A Military Marathon
I have watched the running of the Boston Marathon for over 60 years.  I grew up a stones-throw from the Lake Street checkpoint.

For the first time in 113 years, the National Guard deployed 400 Massachusetts National Guardsmen from the 126th Combat Support Battalion, “to keep the Boston Marathon race route clear” — never happened before Obama’s buddy

The deployment is yet another example of the U.S. military collaborating with local law enforcement around the country. Under the Posse Comitatus Act passed on June 16, 1878 after the end of Reconstruction, the federal uniformed services — including the Army, Air Force, and State National Guard forces — are prohibited from exercising nominally state law enforcement, police, or peace officer powers that maintain “law and order” on non-federal property, except where expressly authorized by the Constitution or Congress.

National Guard forces operating under the state authority are technically exempt from Posse Comitatus Act restrictions. However, with the passage of the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007, federal law was changed so that the Governor of a state is no longer the sole commander in chief of their state’s National Guard, a direct violation of Article I, Section 10 and Clause 3 of the Constitution.

Last year, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced a fiat accompli when ordered the Pentagon to conduct a “broad review” to determine if the military and the National Guard and Reserve can “adequately deal with domestic disasters,” including “a catastrophic attack on the country.” Gates “pressed officials to better integrate reservists into the modern day military and consider treating them on a more equal basis to the active duty troops,” according to CBS News.

Another instance violating Posse Comitatus. Earlier this month, we reported on a joint checkpoint operation involving DHS, federal and state agencies, the Air Force, and local law enforcement in Tennessee.

For example, the U.S. Army dispatching soldiers to patrol the streets of Samson, Alabama, after a rampaging gunman killed 10 people.

Last June, D. H. Williams of the Daily Newscaster reported the deployment of 2,300 Marines in the city of Indianapolis under the direction of FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.

Other instances of military deployment and collaboration with local law enforcement are too numerous to post here. The deployments and exercises have increased significantly since the U.S. military announced last year it will place 20,000 troops on the streets of America by 2011 under the control of the Northern Command. In October, the Department of Defense announced it was assigning a full-time Army unit to be “on call” to facilitate military cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security.

A National Guard spokesman said the soldiers were in attendance to “safeguard” the public. However, this role is usually assigned to the police, not a combat support battalion. The military’s job is to break things and kill people during war, not protect civilians from participants in a marathon.

Obama Is Deaf To Israel’s Security

 

Senior Israeli military circles are staggered by the discovery that Obama had approved a large Turkish arms sale to the Lebanese army, including the services of Turkish military instructors.  This was taken as further proof that the Obama is deaf to Israel’s immediate security concerns.  Lebanese president Gen. Michel Suleiman has more than once threatened neighboring Israel.  When he signed the arms deal in Ankara Tuesday, April 21, he once again pledged publicly to place the Lebanese army at the disposal of the Shiite terrorist Hizballah in any confrontation with Israel.

If that happened, said one Israeli source, Israel could find itself under attack not just by Hizballah as in the past, but by a Lebanese army, well trained and armed by Turkey.  He noted that more than 50 percent of Lebanon’s fighting manpower are Shiites loyal to Hizballah.

The conviction is growing in Jerusalem that Obama endorsed the transaction as a means of breaking up the long-standing military pact between Israel and Turkey, because it interferes with his Middle East objectives.  Our sources note that neither Washington nor Ankara bothered to inform Israel of the transaction or its scope.

After meeting Turkish president Abdullah Gul, Suleiman at the head of a large Lebanese military delegation signed the contracts for the sale and declared with deep satisfaction: “We reviewed the new [US] policies towards the region in the light of President Obama’s recent visit to Turkey.”

 

End note:  Is this what Obama was hinting at when speaking to the Turkish Parliament referencing Muslims in America?  After all he admitted that he was One of Them (relatives who are Muslim or people growing up in Muslim households).

Obama, Alinsky, and Scapegoats

‘Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personalize It  and Polarize It.’  
 - Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals. 

That’s what Barack Obama taught his ACORN followers in all his Community Agitator classes in Chicago. That slogan defines mob scapegoating, of course. It is an exact prescription for whipping up mobs — by race, by gender, by ethnicity, by religion. If you want to know how to whip a mob of Pakistani Taliban fascisti to whip a young girl for flirting with a young man in public, this is exactly what you do: Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personality It, and Polarize It.

And notice that “the target” is no longer a human being. It’s an “It.”  Try substituting the word “victim” for “target,” and you see how it works.

 

This is exactly what the Dixiecrats did to blacks in the Jim Crow South, and what President Obama does today with capitalists who run General Motors and Wall Street.

 

So the purported comedienne Janeane Garofolo interprets the anti-tax tea parties as obviously racist. You see, Ms. Garofolo can read minds, in spite of all the obvious decency of the tea party protesters.  And Obama’s Department of Homeland Security has now pinpointed our chief terrorist danger: It’s “right-wing extremists,” including Iraq War vets coming back home.    

 

In psychiatry, scapegoating is called “displacement of rage,” and it is often said to be a low-level defense, one that comes easily to people who are already emotionally troubled or impaired.  With mature adults scapegoating doesn’t work very well — not unless you can make them into insecure wrecks by destroying their incomes, for example. That’s what happened to the German middle class in the Weimar Republic. It’s what will happen in this country if the economy fails to recover. That is why it is so vital to keep the administration from its most extreme spending plans, which could harm the economy if the Democrats in Congress are foolish enough.

 

Scapegoating is very simple, and very malevolent. It is the defining feature of human destructiveness. All the truly irrational actions in human history involve displaced rage. Pathological societies in the world are always torn by a search for new scapegoats.

 

Scapegoating is a really effective manipulation for mobs that have long ago decided that their real enemy is…  anybody. Because that overwhelming feeling of rising rage matters much more than whoever is the victim of the moment. That overwhelming tension is intolerable and seeks an outlet.

 

For instance, the target could be the kulaks.

 

“Comrades! … You need to hang (hang without fail, so that the public sees) at least 100 notorious kulaks, the rich, and the bloodsuckers. …  This needs to be accomplished in such a way, that people for hundreds of miles around will see, tremble, know and scream out: let’s choke and strangle those blood-sucking kulaks. …

Yours, Lenin.” (italics added)

 

That’s Lenin the mob leader after the Bolshevik revolution. ‘Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personalize It and Polarize It.’  The kulaks were Russian peasants who owned a couple of cows instead of just a scrawny goat like most others, and therefore provided juicy hate objects for the mob. Lenin knew how to whip up those mobs because that’s how it was done during the four centuries of Romanov rule before the Revolution. It is deeply ingrained in Russian folklore — you can see it in the opera Boris Godunov, where a pair of Orthodox priests whip up a mob to kill two Catholic priests, foreigners from Poland. That was just before 1500 AD.

 

Scapegoating is emotional high explosive that you can direct at will, like those fire-spewing proton packs in the movie Ghostbusters.  You just  ‘Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personalize It and Polarize It.’  It’s like pulling a trigger on human emotions and watching the human target get blown away. We’ve seen it ever since the Boomer Left took over the media, most recently with the abuse heaped upon George W. Bush.

 

Saul Alinsky was born in 1909 of Russian Jewish parents in New York City. Why was the Alinsky family living in America in 1909 rather than Minsk or Pinsk or Omsk or Chomsk? Because they fled the Russian pogroms of 1890-1910, like thousands of other Jews.

 

I don’t know if Alinsky’s parents were direct victims of the peasant mobs, but chances are that his aunts or uncles or grandparents must have been. I have a friend whose grandmother was knouted to death by Cossacks in Poland in the 1920′s. I don’t think her grandchildren and great-children have ever come to terms with that horror, even though they are living in the next century in America. It is a multigenerational trauma. Horrific traumas can have that effect. In the Jim Crow South blacks were scapegoated by the very same kinds of mobs, led by the very same kinds of agitators  — virtually all of them white Democrats. It seems that some blacks are still experiencing the emotional ripple-effects, decades later.

 

Now follow this closely: The Alinsky family fled to the United States because life was intolerable in the old country. They found safety in America. Emma Lazarus was another Jewish immigrant, who understood the difference between the Old and New World well enough. She wrote about the Statue of Liberty,

 

“A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.”

 

Emma Lazarus must have been an extraordinary woman, because her poem brims with gratitude for the New World: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…”.

 

That is a very different feeling than the young Saul Alinsky harbored. Little Saul must have seen the Statue of Liberty often enough on the skyline of his chilhood. But he never understood it the way Emma Lazarus did. We can only wonder why, because thousands upon thousands of persecuted refugees kept flowing into New York City when he was growing up.

 

And then little Saul grew up and wrote Rules for Radicals, and dedicated his life to … the very same art of whipping up mobs that his parents fled from. Rules for Radicals might have been written by a medieval mob agitator; only a few words need to be changed. ‘Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personalize It and Polarize It.’  Substitute “heretic” or “witch” for “target” and you have all the religious persecutions in human history. Substitute “blacks,” and you have a Dixiecrat lynch mob. Substitute “whites,” and you have all of J-Wright’s sermons at Trinity United, Chicago. It’s all the same thing. Human nature doesn’t change. Alinsky:

 

“Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution.”

 

Funny thing is, Emma Lazarus thought that America was the revolution those huddled masses were looking for.

 

Alinsky did not write his little book of Rules against the Tsar of Russia, nor against mob demagogues in general; rather, he wrote it in a rage against free market wealth, against capitalist individualism, against the prosperous middle class and its most successful home, the United States of America. Alinsky became the hero for other agitators — people who used to call themselves “communist agitators.” Those were not shameful words when little Saul was growing up, they were proud words.

 

Agitare comes from the Latin word for “stirring up,” the same root as the word “activist.” A “community activist” is just a slightly different name for the old phrase “communist agitator” — one who stirs up a group, just like those old hairy demagogues in Tsarist Russia and Poland, and then in Soviet Russia, Germany, China and Cambodia, in Rwanda and Kosovo, the Punjab and Indonesia ….

 

Question: How is it that little Saul Alinsky, child and grandchild of victims, became the new persecutor?

 

Here is a strange twist of fate. Starting with the huge expansion of the US college campuses in the Sixties, Saul Alinsky’s little book went viral. Alienated middle-class kids with no personal experience of poverty or suffering — in the sense that blacks knew it in the South and the Jews and many others in Europe and Asia — they all went around with Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals in their backpacks. Radicalism became romantic. Alienated and ignorant kids yearned to become Che Guevara and kill the capitalists. That’s how rich kids like Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn learned their theology. It’s how they became heroes in their own eyes. Such saintly people, giving their all for the poor and helpless.

 

Hillary Rodham complained about her authoritarian father when she was a child, and instantly on getting to Wellesley she fell for Saul Alinsky and his Rules, and became an admiring disciple of the Master of Scapegoating.  Hillary’s first major political act was to join the staff of the Senate Watergate Committee, where she wrote a legal brief for the Committee on why President Richard Nixon should not, repeat not, be allowed legal counsel in his impending impeachment and trial.

See how it works?

 

So the persecuted become the persecutors. Hillary the victimized child — at least in her own mind — became the really visceral hater of the Clinton White House. The black victims of mobs in the South had children and grand-children, some of whom — by no means all — became the Reverend J-Wright, or Louis Farrakhan. The children of victims of Russian persecution, some of them — by no means all — became romantic Alinsky radicals.  Those children of wealth worshipped men of violence, and sanitized them — Che, Mao, Fidel, Carlos the Jackal, Ayers, Mumiah, the list goes on.

 

The Reverend J-Wright preaches mob incitement. It’s all over his sermons. His younger successor in the same church, Rev. James Moss III, has his own style of incitement.  He tells his congregation that black people will never be accepted by whites; they are lepers, with an ugly skin condition that makes them diseased outcasts forever. Sweet, ain’t it? The worst Dixiecrat agitator during Jim Crow couldn’t have put it worse than that.

 

Take the rage that people feel and direct it to the most convenient human victim. ‘Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personalize It and Polarize It.’ J-Wright started life as a Black Muslim, as he tells it, and then studied Black Liberation Theology. What’s BLT?  Well, Pope Benedict says it’s a cover name for Marxism. In this case, racial Marxism. Which brings us right back to Lenin whipping up the Bolshevik mobs to kill the kulaks.

 

It doesn’t matter where you direct the rage. Brazil’s Marxist president Lula blames “white people with blue eyes.” We are living in a time of reverse racism, having flipped Dixiecrat racism to the other side. The tragedy is that we have not transcended race, not and as long as racial demagogues can squeeze this new hatred for money and power. The Obamas are the very incarnation of reverse racism. That is why they felt the need to show contempt to the Queen of England, and to bow down to the pre-medieval King of Saudi Arabia. In the next four years, or eight, or longer, you will see them do that over and over and over again, because that is their lifelong obsession.

 

Barack Obama and Michelle attended J-Wright’s church for twenty years, and had their little girls baptized and raised at Trinity United. Our President was brought up by a mother who was a young college radical from Mercer Island WA, and Kansas. His absentee father in Kenya was a proud post-colonial socialist — until, it seems, he ran into trouble with Jomo Kenyatta and had two car accidents in a row; the second one of which killed him. But Barack Obama didn’t draw the rather obvious lesson that his father may have been assassinated by a typical post-colonial tyrant. Instead, he adopted the side of the persecutor in the same way the young Saul Alinsky did.  Obama grew up in his early years in Indonesia, where hundreds of thousands of ethnic Chinese had recently been massacred by — you guessed it –  raging ethnic mobs looking for scapegoats. Oddly enough those Indonesian massacres are not mentioned in Obama’s two autobiographies.

 

Obama’s first boyhood mentor was the CPUSA’s guy in Hawaii, a black man filled with racial rage and resentment, and little Barry was handed on from one radical friend to the next, in a long chain by way of Harvard Law to the Chicago Democrat Machine. The one big gap in his autobiography is his college years at Columbia, but knowing what we know we can fill that in pretty well. He married Michelle, herself a daughter of an African-American ward boss and friend of Jesse Jackson, who made a brilliant career out of scapegoating corporations for money, power and personal fame. Then Barack was taught politics by Emile Jones, the political godfather of Southside. 

 

There’s only one useful rule for predicting human beings:

 

People tend to do in the future what they did in the past.

 

So Barack Obama is now President of the United States.

 

What will he do?

There go those AIG bonus guys. Let’s tax ninety percent of their bonuses and smear them in the media. Done.

 

There goes Rick Wagoner. Let’s kill his career at GM. Done.

 

Let’s try to rouse up the mob against Rush Limbaugh. Oops! Forget it — he’s got his own megaphone. Next time just go for the ones who can’t protest.

 

Now he darkly threatens trying officials responsible for making policy in the Bush administration.

Clock is ticking!

Our worst nightmare – hate crimes legislation. This will undo us. The line in the sand is free speech. And this is an attack on free speech. The war is lost, America is lost, all is lost if we lose free speech – even speech we do not like.

This is the most dangerous piece of legislation Americans face. What is hate speech? Who decides? This is an overthrow of the first amendment.

Clearly the clergy hates it, because they will prosecute priests for preaching against homosexuality, but they will not prosecute imams for inciting jihad and Islamic Jew hatred.

Violence against anyone for any reason should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Why introduce the ‘hate’ aspect?

 I’m going to shock some of you people, others I will probably anger and some of you will be amused at what I’m going to say in this column, but I don’t care if I’m the last man standing I would be less than honest and candid if I didn’t say it.

People if we don’t get real this country is going to slip right out from under us, or rather be pulled right out from under us by a President bent on socialism and a power mad Democratic Congressional leadership.

The new Treasury Secretary can’t even keep up with his income taxes and he is asking for powers that nobody but kings and people like Hugo Chavez have.  He wants to be able to take over American companies that aren’t toeing the Obama line.  That is a downright abomination to the Constitution.

Nancy Pelosi changes the procedures of the House of Representatives so the Democratic majority can rush legislation thorough.  Is this what the Congress is supposed to be about?  Ms. Pelosi and Harry Reid, her counterpart in the Senate, are a clear and present danger to the republic.

Can’t you see what’s happening, America?  They’re going to try to force you to join unions, screw up your healthcare, invade every facet of your life, and you can believe it now or you can believe it later…they will raise your taxes, a lot.

And yet even with raising taxes they’re not going to be able to raise enough to service the debt they’re making.  The only way out is to inflate the currency and folks when that begins in earnest, Katie bar the door.

The American dollar, once the standard for the planet Earth will become like green wallpaper and the price of goods and services will rise exponentially.

Do you think this can’t happen, America?  Well the sorry truth is that it is happening; in fact it’s accelerating on a daily basis as a socialist President and a panicked Congress flounder around with no idea except to throw more money at it.  After all, it’s only paper, they can always print some more.

Things are moving so fast now; things once thought unthinkable are becoming commonplace as Obama, Pelosi, Reid and company consolidate their power over America.

This may sound far-fetched, but Hugo Chavez was democratically elected, and then started sowing the seeds of socialism in Venezuela.  He was recently successful in eliminating term limits for the presidency, and is now essentially President for Life, as long as the people keep voting him in.  There’s an old quote by a British historian named Lord Acton, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

I don’t like the role of alarmist, I love this country and always believed in it, always thought that we could work out of any problem.  I’ve seen wars, recessions and national tragedy and the thought never entered my mind that America wouldn’t pull out of the problem, but America is in a tailspin and if somebody doesn’t grab the controls soon it’s going to crash.

And do you know what happens then?  Total government control.  It’s called dictatorship.  What do you think?

Allegations of ethics violations by a handful of Democrats in recent months reached something of a crescendo this week as two prominent members of Congress were accused of corruption.

California Rep. Jane Harman denied allegations that she offered to help seek reduced charges for two pro-Israel lobbyists suspected of espionage in exchange for help from a pro-Israel donor, also suspected Israeli agent, in lobbying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to give Harman a key chairmanship. 

And California Sen. Dianne Feinstein denied that she devised legislation that helped her husband get a federal contract to sell foreclosed properties at compensation rates higher than the industry norms.

But the latest cases, which involve Democrats, did not make the same splash that corruption allegations did a few years ago, when Republicans were on the receiving end of the finger-pointing. 

Some Republican analysts attribute the difference to timing.

Democrats have benefited from an “Obama media cycle,” said Republican strategist Ron Bonjean, who served as an aide to former House Speaker Dennis Hastert and Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott.

In recent months, Democrats have fallen victim to similar allegations of corruption. While denying wrongdoing on Tuesday, Harman called for a federal investigation into why her conversations were being recorded and why they were leaked to the media. 

The Office of Congressional Ethics, created by a House resolution on March , 11, 2008, also won’t take up the Harman investigation, according to Roll Call, because the OCE rules prevent it from looking at any cases that arose before its creation. 

Feinstein defended herself Wednesday by pointing out that her legislation to route $25 billion in taxpayer money to a government agency that reportedly awarded her husband’s real estate firm a lucrative contract never was enacted into law. 

Another Democrat, Pennsylvania Rep. Jack Murtha, is facing a federal probe for purportedly steering defense appropriations to clients of KSA Consulting, which employed his brother Robert, and the PMA Group, founded by Paul Magliocchetti, a former senior staffer on the Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Defense.

New York Rep. Charlie Rangel is being investigated by the House Ethics Committee in at least four areas, including his reported failure to properly report income taxes on a Caribbean villa in the Dominican Republic; use of four, rent-controlled apartments in Harlem; questions about an offshore firm asking Rangel for special tax exemptions; and whether Rangel improperly used House stationery to solicit donations for a school of public affairs named after him at City College of New York.

Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said the main difference between the current Democratic scandals and the ones that routed the Republicans is that now “it’s not one big scandal easily understood.” 

She explained that many of ethics accusations against Republicans a few years ago were linked to Abramoff. “It was one issue,” she said. “Now we’re looking at lots of different little issues.”

But she warned that the allgegations against Democrats could add up to a death by a thousand cuts.

“The Democrats have something to worry about here,” she said. “There will be a critical mass when it will look like Democrats have a huge ethical problem. And the Democrats who have not been taking the problems very seriously ignore them at their peril.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi revealed Wednesday that the National Security Agency briefed her “a few years ago” about wiretapping Rep. Jane Harman, but she never told her California colleague. 

Roll Call newspaper on Capitol Hill reported that Pelosi said the NSA did not tell her what was picked up on the call but it wasn’t her decision whether to discuss the tape with Harman..

“It was not my position to raise it with Jane Harman,” Pelosi told reporters at a lunch with another newspaper, the Christian Science Monitor. “In fact, I didn’t even know if what they were talking about was real. All they said was that she was wiretapped.

Congressional Quarterly reported Monday that the former senior Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee was overheard agreeing to intervene with the Bush Justice Department on behalf of Steven J. Rosen and Keith Weissman, former lobbyists for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. In exchange, the person seeking her assistance would lobby Pelosi to give Harman the chairmanship of the panel after the 2006 election. 

Harman campaigned to become the chairwoman when Democrats won control of the House in 2006 but Pelosi passed her over for Rep. Silvestre Reyes, D-Texas.

In her strongest support so far for Harman, with whom she has clashed in the past, Pelosi reportedly said Wednesday, “I have great confidence in Jane Harman. … She’s a patriotic American. She would never do anything to hurt her country.”

Government officials say the Justice Department is now considering dropping its case against the two lobbyists, according to the Associated Press.

Recall Barack Obama hyped Geithner’s plan at a press conference and told the media Geithner would present it during his testimony before the Senate the next day. When Geithner came up empty, and it was clear there was no such plan formulated, the stock market tumbled and, according to Rich Miller of Bloomberg, doubt was cast on Geithner’s competency.

The media should have blamed Obama for putting the cart before the horse, but we know the media will never blame Obama for anything.<

Yesterday, Barack Obama proposed that Bush administration officials who approved so-called enhanced interrogation techniques might face prosecution. This directly contradicts what his own chief of staff , Rahm Emanuel, who, according to Jonathan Weisman of the Wall Street Journal, said on Sunday:
that the people who formulated the Bush policies wouldn’t be subject to prosecution. On ABC’s “This Week,” Mr. Emanuel said, “It’s time for reflection. It’s not a time to use our energy and our time in looking back in a sense of anger and retribution.”
When Barack Obama was on the verge of winning the Presidency a very smart friend of mine worried that Obama, never having served in an executive capacity before and inexperienced in many areas, would find it difficult to control subordinates.

Sorry Canada, its going to be a long four years. In an article called “The Border for Dummies” Canada’s National Post asks a salient question:
“Can someone please tell us how U. S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano got her job?”
I think I can offer some enlightenment. You see, Janet is an ideologue. She is the kind of person who will pursue ideological goals without regard for truth, a person who can be expected to reinvent reality to fit the ideological vision of the administration, which she does with abandon. She is the perfect Obama Administration appointee.
Madame Secretary has no real security bona fides to qualify her as Homeland Security Secretary other than being a two term governor from a border state and having a political ideology in harmony with the new administration. She is not particularly competent and she does not articulate policies well, if at all. She is as gaffe prone as Vice President Biden. During a recent interview by the CBC Napolitano equated the Canadian border with our corrupt and violence plagued pseudo border with Mexico, even claiming that some of the 9-11 terrorists had crossed from Canada into the US.
“Nonetheless, to the extent that terrorists have come into our country or suspected or known terrorists have entered our country across a border, it’s been across the Canadian border. There are real issues there.”
When confronted about those outrageously incorrect remarks she said:
“I can’t talk to that. I can talk about the future. And here’s the future. The future is we have borders.”
As nonsensical a comment as can be imagined and more so when one realizes the abysmal job she did in Arizona on border and immigration issues. But Janet has other problems with the pesky details of her job. When asked about Arizona’s Maricopa County Sheriff, Joe Arpaio’s policy of actually enforcing immigration laws she had this to say:
“What we have to do is target the real evil-doers in this business, the employers who consistently hire illegal labor, the human traffickers who are exploiting human misery.
“And yes, when we find illegal workers, yes, appropriate action, some of which is criminal, most of that is civil, because crossing the border is not a crime per se. It is civil. But anyway, going after those as well.

“But the notion that you’re going to fill every prosecutor’s time, every law enforcement official’s time, and that’s literally what he’s talking about, on immigration, he doesn’t answer the other question, which he has been criticized for, by the way, in Maricopa County, because he is not going after murders, armed robberies, other more serious crimes, because he is so focused on this one.” [emphases added]

Incredible comments, incomprehensible logic, borne of the talking points from the Obama-La Raza disinformation machine. Since when is it not a crime to illegally enter the US? Sheriff Arpaio, by all accounts an effective and popular law enforcement officer, is ignoring more serious crimes to pursue illegals? A national cabinet member criticizing an honorable local law enforcement official and accusing him of criminal dereliction of duty is stunning.
It gets worse. The Canadian Press reported these Napolitano comments from a recent Brookings Institute Border Conference:
“One of the things that we need to be sensitive to is the very real feelings among southern border states and in Mexico that if things are being done on the Mexican border, they should also be done on the Canadian border,” Janet Napolitano told a Canada-U.S. border conference in Washington, D.C.
“We shouldn’t go light on one and heavy on the other,” she said of the Canadian and Mexican borders.

“We shouldn’t go light on one and heavy on the other,” despite the obvious fact that one cannot with any honesty make comparisons between the two. Mexico is violent and corrupt and its civil society is crumbling. It will milk what it can from the US and continue to feed its population concocted grievances to cover its own ineptitude. Thousands of Mexican Army deserters, including Special Forces fill the ranks of the drug cartels. Mexico has proven incapable of controlling its internal affairs.

Canada on the other hand is an eminently peaceful nation under the rule of law, as fine an ally as any country could hope for, which the US is blessed to have on its northern border. There are no hordes of Canadians illegally entering the US to find work and send billions of dollars home each year. There are no brutal drug cartels murdering US and Canadian citizens and fighting the police and army with machineguns and grenades smuggled from Guatemala, Cuba and Venezuela.
Yet in Napolitano’s world the same draconian measures absolutely necessary on the Mexican border are also necessary on the northern border regardless of the enormously different situation. It is a policy so divorced from reality, so ridiculous, it is almost comical, too absurd to be true, but dismayingly, it is.
This is what happens when you hire for ideology not competence, when you wish to stack the deck with inept sycophants and fellow travelers that will follow your agenda lockstep. At a time when the dangerous problems of our southern border could erupt into a region wide conflagration we have a bumbling fool insulting our most trusted ally and espousing nonsensical policies, failing to understand or address the deadly serious issues facing us.
Sorry Canada, it’s going to be a long four years down here in the US, but for what its worth, most of us yanks know Canada is not Mexico and the 9-11 terrorists did not come from your territory. We consider Canada a friend and neighbor who deserves our consideration and gratitude and to be treated as such. Secretary Napolitano is an embarrassment, but as I have recently grown fond of saying: You ain’t seen nothing yet, unfortunately.

Give Americans a real health care choice, say advocates

“Don’t cut the heart out of President Obama’s health care reform plan” is the message many people will be delivering to their members of Congress this week as part of a national effort to push for meaningful health care reform.

National groups and coalitions such as MoveOn.org, Democracy for America and Health Care for America Now, a coalition of labor and community advocacy groups, are demanding congressional support for a reform model that gives Americans a choice between affordable access to private insurance and a “public option.”

“People need to have a real choice,” said Jacob Hacker, a health policy expert that has advised presidential campaigns and is the author of a new study from the Institute for America’s Future titled “Healthy Competition.” On a teleconference with reporters, Hacker noted, “They have to have a choice of a plan that is guaranteed, that’s affordable, that will provide quality care wherever they live in the nation.”

In Hacker’s view, Americans should have access to a national health care exchange that provides a menu of options. At least one of those options should be publicly financed plan based on Medicare’s “infrastructure” where the government pays doctors, hospitals and pharmacies.

Other reform proposals that exclude this public option are little more than massive taxpayer subsidies to help people buy expensive or inadequate insurance.

Roger Hickey, director of the Institute for America’s Future, which published the report, said that private-only reform proposals simply will not be able to control costs, the essential ingredient of affordable, quality universal reform. Excluding a public option will result in “either very low-quality health care plans or very unaffordable health care plans for a lot of people, and a lot of resentment,” Hickey pointed out.

Hacker’s report detailed some basic reasons why giving Americans the choice of a public option is a must. First, the competition created between a public plan and the private market will likely get private insurers to adjust how they provide insurance. They will be under pressure to stop unfair practices such as excluding higher risk customers or limiting coverage for higher cost medical procedures. Simply put, in order to compete they will have to simply provide better coverage at more affordable rates to a larger number of people, he argued.

Private insurers will have to change current practices in order to keep customers who might otherwise be dissatisfied with their service and prices and choose to move to the public option.

Hacker rejected the idea that providing general access to the existing federal employees’ benefit program is not a satisfactory substitute for a public option. While it should be among the new options given to all Americans, this option alone will not help control costs or guarantee meaningful coverage on a universal basis.

Hacker’s proposal does not eliminate the private market nor does it eliminate incentives for employers to continue to sponsor health care coverage for their employees. It simply adds more options for Americans who struggle to pay for coverage or who are dissatisfied with the quality of their existing health insurance plan.

The push for a “public option” is a goal shared by more than seven in 10 Americans, including more than six in 10 people who identify themselves as Republicans, according to a new public opinion survey conducted for the Center for American Progress Action Fund.

While some media reports indicate that Senate Democrats are increasingly willing to exclude a public option from a final reform plan, other congressional Democrats have drawn a line in the sand. A recent statement by the leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) indicated that most members of that 77-person group in the House will refuse to vote for a health care reform plan that excludes a public option. “We have polled CPC Members very carefully in recent weeks,” CPC co-Chairs Reps. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.) said, “and a strong majority will only support comprehensive health care reform legislation which includes a public plan option on a level playing field with private health insurance plans.”

Without strong support from the CPC, any health care reform proposal will have difficulty passing in the House.

Obama’s leap to socialism

President Obama showed his hand this week when The New York Times wrote that he is considering converting the stock the government owns in our country’s banks from preferred stock, which it now holds, to common stock.

This seemingly insignificant change is momentous. It means that the federal government will control all of the major banks and financial institutions in the nation. It means socialism.

The Times dutifully dressed up the Obama plan as a way to avoid asking Congress for more money for failing banks. But the implications of the proposal are obvious to anyone who cares to look.

When the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) intervention was first outlined by the Bush administration, it did not call for any transfer of stock, of any sort, to the government. The Democrats demanded, as a price for their support, that the taxpayers “get something back” for the money they were lending to the banks. House Republicans, wise to what was going on, rejected the administration’s proposal and sought, instead, to provide insurance to banks, rather than outright cash. Their plan would, of course, not involve any transfer of stock. But Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) undercut his own party’s conservatives and went along with the Democratic plan, ensuring its passage.

But to avoid the issue of a potential for government control of the banks, everybody agreed that the stock the feds would take back in return for their money would be preferred stock, not common stock. “Preferred” means that these stockholders get the first crack at dividends, but only common stockholders can actually vote on company management or policy. Now, by changing this fundamental element of the TARP plan, Obama will give Washington a voting majority among the common stockholders of these banks and other financial institutions. The almost 500 companies receiving TARP money will be, in effect, run by Washington.

And whoever controls the banks controls the credit and, therefore, the economy. That’s called socialism.

Obama is dressing up the idea of the switch to common stock by noting that the conversion would provide the banks with capital they could use without a further taxpayer appropriation. While this is true, it flies in the face of the fact that an increasing number of big banks and brokerage houses are clamoring to give back the TARP money. Goldman-Sachs, for example, wants to buy back its freedom, as do many banks. Even AIG is selling off assets to dig its way out from under federal control. The reason, of course, is that company executives do not like the restrictions on executive pay and compensation that come with TARP money. It is for this reason that Chrysler Motors refused TARP funds.

With bank profits up and financial institutions trying to give back their money, there is no need for the conversion of the government stock from preferred to common — except to advance the political socialist agenda of this administration.

Meanwhile, to keep its leverage over the economy intact, the Obama administration is refusing to let banks and other companies give back the TARP money until they pass a financial “stress test.” Nominally, the government justifies this procedure by saying that it does not want companies to become fully private prematurely and then need more help later on. But don’t believe it. They want to keep the TARP money in the banks so they can have a reason and rationale to control them.

The Times story did not influence the dialogue of the day. People were much more concerned with the death of 21 horses at a polo match. Much as we will miss these noble animals, we will miss our economic freedom more.

WASHINGTON — Democrats moved one step closer Wednesday to using a controversial budget procedure to speed passage of President Obama’s health care legislation.

House Democrats went on record again in favor of advancing the legislation while allowing only limited debate, which would hobble the ability of Republicans to wrest concessions on one of Obama’s top domestic priorities.

By a 227-196 vote, the House affirmed Democrats’ plans to move health care legislation under rules that block Republicans in the Senate from being able to slow progress of the legislation — or even stop it, through a filibuster.

The vote came as senior House and Senate Democrats negotiated the issue in private talks on the 2010 budget. Republicans are passionately against the idea of putting health care on a “fast track,” saying it is too important and too complicated to be rushed through Congress under rules permitting just 20 hours of Senate debate.

But the White House is insisting on having the fast-track process — known as “reconciliation” under the arcane rules governing the congressional budget process — available to them, though it claims a preference is for a bipartisan measure.

As a practical matter, passing health care measures under fast-track procedures would give Democrats far more control over the details of the legislation. It would reduce the influence of not only Republicans but also conservative Senate Democrats.

But it also would provoke howls of outrage from Republicans claiming that filibuster-proof reconciliation legislation is not intended to be used to pass sweeping measures such as Obama’s health care overhaul, which they argue would drastically increase the size of government and the taxes needed to pay for it. As a form of government, National Socialism is totalitarian in character aiming at the total control of all politics, economy, social relationships and thought, by a small group which claims to understand how to cope with all aspects of human existence.

When speaking, Hitler would always begin his speeches in a low hesitate voice and gradually increased his voice to a loud commanding voice. He used carefully guided hand movements his voice, and he played on the emotions of the audience making them forget themselves and looked on him as something to worship. He promised goodness for everyone, and they were more then willing to believe him.

Everyone, from Hitler down to the lowest leader, worked tirelessly to pound their message in the minds of the German public. They also made sure they were known as “the National Socialist German Workers’ Party” instead of the name of “Nazis.”

Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act -H.R. 669 and its Potential Impact on You

 If you’re the proud parent of a gerbil, hamster, exotic bird, reptile, or any number of nonnative aquarium fish, your action is needed concerning a proposed new regulation called the “Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act” (H.R. 669). This bill would totally revamp how nonnative species (many enjoyed as pets) are regulated in this country.

 
A hearing has been scheduled for THIS Thursday, April 23rd in the House Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans & Wildlife. The pet industry and pet parents across the country need to voice their concerns loud and clear prior to this hearing.

SEC. 2. PURPOSE.

 

The purpose of this Act is to establish a risk assessment process to prevent the introduction into, and establishment in, the United States of nonnative wildlife species that will cause or are likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to other animal species’ health or human health.

 

SEC. 3. RISK ASSESSMENT PROCESS FOR IMPORTATION OF NONNATIVE WILDLIFE SPECIES.

 

(a) In General- The Secretary of the Interior, acting through the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, shall promulgate regulations that establish a process for assessing the risk of all nonnative wildlife species proposed for importation into the United States, other than nonnative wildlife species that are included in the list of approved species issued under section 4.

 

(b) Factors To Be Considered- The regulations promulgated under subsection (a) shall include consideration of–

 

•  
  (1) the identity of the organism to the species level, including to the extent possible specific information on its subspecies and genetic identity;

 

•  
  (2) the native range of the species;

 

•  
  (3) whether the species has established or spread, or caused harm to the economy, the environment, or other animal species or human health in ecosystems in or ecosystems that are similar to those in the United States;

 

•  
  (4) the likelihood that environmental conditions suitable for the establishment or spread of the species exist in the United States;

 

•  
  (5) the likelihood of establishment of the species in the United States;

 

•  
  (6) the likelihood of spread of the species in the United States;

 

•  
  (7) the likelihood that the species would harm wildlife resources in the United States;

 

•  
  (8) the likelihood that the species would harm native species that are rare or native species that have been listed as threatened species or endangered species in the United States under the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.);

 

•  
  (9) the likelihood that the species would harm habitats or ecosystems in the United States;

 

•  
  (10) the likelihood that pathogenic species or parasitic species may accompany the species proposed for importation; and

 

•  
  (11) other factors important to assessing the risks associated with the species, consistent with the purpose under section 2.

(e) Deadlines- The Secretary shall–

 

•  
  (1) publish in the Federal Register proposed regulations under subsection (a) and a proposed preliminary list of approved species under section 4(b), by not later than 2 years after the date of the enactment of this Act;

 

•  
  (2) publish in the Federal Register final regulations under subsection (a), a final preliminary list of approved species under section 4(b), and a notice of the prohibitions under this Act, by not later than 30 days before the date on which the Secretary begins assessing risk under the regulations; and

 

•  
  (3) begin assessing risk with respect to nonnative wildlife species under the final regulations promulgated under subsection (a), and publish notice thereof, by not later than 37 months after the date of the enactment of this Act.

 

(f) Animals Owned Lawfully Prior to Prohibition of Importation- This Act and regulations issued under this Act shall not interfere with the ability of any person to possess an individual animal of any species if such individual animal was legally owned by the person before the risk assessment is begun pursuant to subsection (e)(3), even if such species is later prohibited from being imported under the regulations issued under this Act.

Note here:  This means you cannot travel interstate with your pet.  You CAN travel within your own state.   You have to have the receipt for purchase of your pet in your possession.  If you adopted the pet from a friend or family member because they moved out of state, you will need their receipt of purchase for the animal.

This bill contains too many “general” lists; for example wild birds, but does not list them and the list will come out only AFTER passage of this ACT…..

(5) NONNATIVE WILDLIFE SPECIES- The term ‘nonnative wildlife species’–

(A) except as provided in subparagraph (C), means any live species or subspecies of animal that is not a native species or subspecies, whether or not born or raised in captivity;

(B) except as provided in subparagraph (C), includes–

(i) any such live, wild species or subspecies of mammal, bird, fish, reptile, amphibian, insect, mollusk, crustacean, arthropod, coelenterate, or other invertebrate, and

(ii) any viable egg, sperm, gamete, or other reproductive material or offspring thereof;

(C) does not include any species that is–

(i) specifically defined or regulated as a plant pest or approved for biological control purposes under the Plant Protection Act (7 U.S.C. 7701 et seq.); or

(ii) defined or regulated as a threat to livestock or poultry under the Animal Health Protection Act (7 U.S.C. 8301 et seq.); and

D) does not include any cat (Felis catus), cattle or oxen (Bos taurus), chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus), dog (Canis lupus familiaris), donkey or ass (Equus asinus), domesticated members of the family Anatidae (geese), duck (domesticated Anas spp.), goat (Capra aegagrus hircus), goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus), horse (Equus caballus), llama (Lama glama), mule or hinny (Equus caballus x E. asinus), pig or hog (Sus scrofa domestica), domesticated varieties of rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), or sheep (Ovis aries), or any other species or variety of species that is determined by the Secretary to be common and clearly domesticated.

I am all for controlling invasive species that are “released” into our environment,  however this bill has gray areas that could be incorporated to include hamsters, guinea pigs, exotic birds, etc.

It would be wise for those Americans who have pets to keep track OF THIS BILL and if necessary call your Congressional Representative or Senator.

One thing to remember is: most species found in America today were IMPORTED from different countries……dogs, cats, horses, cattle, etc.

Most invasive species were released by our own GOVERNMENT;  like the pesky “Love Bug” that eats through car paint, etc. and other species released by our government for “pest control”…..yet the American pet owners  seem to be the targets of this bill!
