After reading this article, I thought WOW, that is exactly how I feel at this point!

I am neither a Democrat or Republican….I am now registered as an Independent.  I gave up my Democratic Party registration (35+ years) on Independence Day 2008 [Sarah Palin claimed her INDEPENDENCE this year....2009] when the Democratic Party became something I no longer recognized.  

I blog and put “SUNSHINE” (a wonderful disinfectant) on what Obama is doing to America since the MSM’s…. CONTINUE to be asleep at the wheel. 

I DO NOT want America to become a Socialist/Communist country; the road/path Obama is taking America down day after day.

 

America needs a Centrist/Constitutionalist Party.

Is there one on the horizon?

Sarah Palin: A Leader Without A Party

The Democrats — and the Republicans too — may find the next stage of Sarah Palin’s public career uncomfortable.

 

 

 

True to form, Sarah Palin, her Governorship behind her, clearly and forthrightly declared her intent: to take up arms against the forces dedicated to tearing down our Constitution, destroying our principles of government, disparaging our history of defense of democracy and free enterprise, weakening our military, and saddling generations to come with oppressive debt and entitlement programs. She did so in the same inspirational, forceful manner that won her immediate and enthusiastic acclaim when she joined John McCain on the Republican ticket in ‘08.

 

Her words, her dynamic style, her good humor and high spirits, as well as her clear dedication to the traditional values of Middle America, have created a great wave of euphoria among conservatives across the country, in the Tea Party movement as well as those who embraced her last fall.

 

Those in the Obama camp who have savaged her, and the commentators who have criticized her for being a quitter, a political weakling, doomed forever as a loser, are about to get their first lesson in Palin 101: The word “quit” is not in her vocabulary. She is not a reactive defender.  She is a fierce and fearless attack machine.  She earned her nickname Sarah Barracuda, on the basketball court.  She polished those skills in the rough and tumble of the frontier politics of Alaska.

 

She is unswervingly honest.  She hates liars and cheats. She spent many years exposing powerful entrenched opponents in a state whose politics had become sleazy, and has a keen nose for corruption   What she says, she means.  She makes no idle promises.  This honesty is what brought her into politics in the first place. She ran for mayor of Wasilla because she questioned the motives of the favored candidate.  She cleaned up local government.   Her integrity is what propelled her to high approval ratings as she rose to the governorship. Her honesty is transparent, it shines through.  It resonates with voters, differentiating her from  run-of-the mill opportunistic professional politicians.  

 

For Palin, integrity in government transcends all other considerations.  Many politicians and pundits find this hard to believe, or even understand.

 

The truth is:  Sarah Palin is not really a “politician”.  She did not get into politics to seek power or wealth. She bears no resemblance to the typical politician, who graduated in Law specifically to enter politics; or to the successful businessman who runs for office to gain profit advantage or status; or to the mediocrities who rises through nepotism or dynastic ambition like a Kennedy or a Gore. Or to any party hack out of the Chicago machine.

 

She has not brought herself into this fight at this point because she wants to be President…or Vice-President…or Senator….or Cabinet member. She is in this solely because she feels, deeply, that our traditional principles and values, already betrayed by both parties, are in serious jeopardy through the aggressive efforts of committed socialists.  She is prepared to make a personal sacrifice in the cause of defeating them.  If she succeeds, she’ll be happy to just go back to Wasilla and the Alaskan way of middle class life she loves.

 

Remember, she made it clear in her resignation that she was going to remain “outside” the political fences.  For she is going to turn her guns on the GOP — big time.  She wants nothing to do with the Republican National Committee, and not just because she has been reading Mark Levin’s Liberty and Tyranny.  She has fought the GOP top dogs since her first days in Wasilla.  When she was appointed by the Governor to chair the Oil & Gas Conservation Commission and found out the Republicans were dealing under the counter with the private companies, she resigned and blew the whistle.  When her party wouldn’t support her for Governor she ran on her own — against  their open opposition — and won.  And promptly attacked waste and corruption within the Republican state government.

 

Then she was drafted by McCain, sparking some indignation in the RNC.  She promptly charged the flailing campaign with her energy and her personality, attracting  huge numbers of people to GOP rallies, and most likely some new voters. But she got no support from the sclerotic RNC managers -- and the great fighter pilot couldn’t shoot straight. Then he bailed out on her after the election, and she received no thanks for her valiant effort; not only was she simply dumped, but reviled and mocked by the insiders and elitists she had worked with.  

 

Post-election, repulsively hammered by the Democrats, abetted by her enemies  in the Alaskan GOP ranks, and their Eastern Beltway buddies, she has pressed on, in ways that none of them ever would have anticipated.

 

Should anybody be surprised that she would have nothing but contempt for the party whose key figures continue to question her competence  and ability to govern? That she has publicly disowned them, pledged to work outside them? She owes the Republican organization nothing.  She not only knows that she does not need them to gain a strong voter segment, but that they would hang her high if she remained in the fold.  

 

I’m sure she relishes the prospect of not just holding on to her faithful within the party, but to swelling their numbers by many millions of other Republicans, independents and  disenchanted Democrats over the next year. 

 

Palin means exactly what she said.  She will make no deal with the RNC, and will operate entirely outside its control.  She will go after individuals and policies and the rudderless, dim-wiited, ossified RNC with the same vigor and eloquence she goes after the socialist administration.

 

Sarah Palin has the intelligence, the political skills, the downhome eloquence, the vision and the dedication to  influence the swing vote come fall of 2010. 

 

 

 She will have attracted the support of power brokers unhappy with the floundering RNC and attracted those “comers” within the party who share her views.  As the election nears, incumbents as well as new challengers for Congressional positions, will want to be identified with her.

 

Palin has the upper hand.  She will call her own shots next year, whether the GOP likes it or not.

Obama To Give Medal Of Freedom To Mary Robinson:Host and Mastermind Of Durban I Conference. Connection: Columbia University and Rashid Khalidi

 

This ONE action should speak VOLUMES to the Jewish Community.

Did Obama’s pal Rashid Khalidi suggest this prestigious, highest non-military award given by any President, be given to Mary Robinson? 

In the United States, Robinson joined the faculty at Columbia University (Obama’s alma-mater). Rashid Khalidi is Professor of Middle East Studies at Columbia University.

So who is Mary Robinson? An enemy of Israel to begin, and the host and mastermind  of the first Durban conference.

Mary Robinson, an architect of the 2001 U.N. World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa, which was boycotted by Secretary of State Powell because the Bush administration deemed it too hostile to Israel, has been hired as a professor in the Department of International and Public Affairs by Columbia University. Other prominent antagonists of Israel on the Columbia faculty include Rashid Khalidi and Joseph Massad, who has declared Israel illegitimate as a Jewish state. Columbia has “become a hotbed of Israel haters,” notes the president of the Zionist Organization of America, Morton Klein.

The bestowing of the Medal of Freedom on Mary Robinson is a travesty. Beyond that, it is a slap in the face to the pro-Israel community. Obama just met with the leaders of a collection of Jewish groups, ostensibly to quell their concerns about his approach towards Israel. Barely two weeks later, he gives an award to a person who has actively campaigned against Israel. Is this just a sign he couldn’t care less about what those leaders think or feel?

 

Robinson is an ardent foe of Israel and was the Commissioner of the U.N Human Right Commission when it condoned suicide bombing by the Palestinians as a legitimate means to establish a Palestinian state. As Jennifer Rubin points out in her blog at Commentary Contentions, Robinson has a pattern of anti-Israel actions stretching across many years (and continents).

 

 

   MARY ROBINSON:

You may remember her role in presiding over the infamous Durban I Conference. At the time she joined Rashid Khalidi at Columbia University (no, you can’t make this up), this report summarized the objections to her hiring, given her record in overseeing the infamous Israel-bashing event:

Columbia has “become a hotbed of anti-Israel haters,” said the president of the Zionist Organization of America, Morton Klein. “It’s especially astonishing that a school with such a large Jewish population would insult Jewish people by hiring these haters of the Jewish state of Israel.”

The groups also blame Ms. Robinson for allowing the Durban conference to become a global platform for anti-Israel venting. Ms. Robinson, as the United Nations high commissioner for human rights, rejected many American demands to remove anti-Israel language from final conference documents.

“Under Mary Robinson’s leadership the Human Rights Commission was one-sided and extremist. In her tenure at the HRC, she lacked fairness in her approach to the Israeli/Palestinian issue,” said the chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, James Tisch. “I am hopeful — for the sake of her students and the reputation of Columbia — that as she enters the world of academia she will demonstrate more balance in her views.”

Recently deceased congressman and human-rights champion Tom Lantos had this to say:

Mary Robinson’s lack of leadership was a major contributing factor to the debacle in Durban. Her yearning to have a “dialogue among civilizations” blinded her to the reality that the noble goals of her conference had been usurped by some of the world’s least tolerant and most repressive states, wielding human rights claims as a weapon in a political dispute.

But Durban was not the only blot on her record. As Michael Rubin pointed out in this 2002 column, in her capacity as president of Ireland, she also happily provided millions of dollars of support to the PLO, which were used in terror attacks:

During the last four years of Robinson’s tenure, the European Union donated large sums of money to the Palestinian Authority. Ireland even held the presidency of the European Union for the second half of 1996. During this time, Arafat siphoned large amounts of European aid money away to pay for terror. Robinson can plead ignorance, but documents seized during the recent Israeli incursion into the West Bank revealed that the Palestinian Authority spent approximately $9 million of European Union aid money each month on the salaries of those organizing terror attacks against civilians. While European officials like Robinson looked the other way, the Palestinian Authority regularly converted millions of dollars of aid money into shekels at rates about 20 percent below normal, allowing the Palestinian chairman to divert millions of dollars worth of aid into his personal slush fund.

And then in her post-Durban career, she proceeded on the same Israel-bashing course that has made her infamous among supporters of Israel:

Robinson’s post-Durban record is little better. On April 15, Robinson’s commission voted on a decision that condoned suicide bombings as a legitimate means to establish Palestinian statehood (six European Union members voted in favor including, not surprisingly, France and Belgium). The vote came after Robinson initiated a drive to become a fact finder to investigate the now-famous massacre in Jenin (also known as “the massacre that never happened”).

 
There are no words to describe how atrocious a selection this is. But it does speak volumes about the president’s sympathies.

Obama, Ayers and Khalidi share the same views. That is why they worked so well together at the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), funding  the likes of Mike Klonsky, a fellow SDS and Maoist associate of Ayers who, as Steve Diamond relates, used to host a “social justice” blog on Obama’s campaign website. With Obama heading the board of directors that approved expenditures and Ayers, the mastermind running its operational arm, hundreds of thousands of CAC dollars poured into the “Small Schools Workshop” — a project begun by Ayers and run by Klonsky to spur the revolution from the ground up.

Precisely because they shared the same views, Obama and Ayers also worked comfortably together on the board of the Woods Fund. There, they doled out thousands of dollars to Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity Church to promote its Marxist “black liberation theology.” Moreover, they underwrote the Arab American Action Network (AAAN) founded by Rashid Khalidi, a top apologist for Yasser Arafat. As National Review’s David Pryce-Jones notes, Khalidi once directed WAFA, the terrorist PLO’s news agency. Then, like Ayers, he repackaged himself as an academic who rails at American policy. The AAAN, which supports driver’s licenses and public welfare benefits for illegal aliens, holds that the establishment of Israel was an illegitimate “catastrophe.”  

  

Khalidi, who regards Israel as a “racist” “apartheid” state, supports Palestinian terror strikes against Israeli military targets. It’s little surprise that he should be such a favorite of Ayers, the terrorist for whom “racism” and “apartheid” trip off the tongue as easily as “pass the salt.”

And it’s no surprise that the like-minded Obama would be a fan. Khalidi, after all, has mastered the Arafat art of posing as a moderate before credulous Westerners while (as Martin Kramer documents) scalding America’s “Zionist lobby” when addressing Arabic audiences. The Obama who decries “bitter” Americans “cling[ing] to guns or religion” when he’s in San Francisco but morphs into a God-fearing Second Amendment enthusiast when he’s in Pennsylvania — like the Obama who pummels NAFTA before labor union supporters but has advisers quietly assure the Canadians not to worry about such campaign cant — surely appreciates the craft. 

Jennifer Rubin has an interesting observation. When Robinson headed the Human Rights Commission, James Tisch-the Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations-criticized her. The current Chairman of the Conference is Alan Solow-a supporter of Barack Obama’s during the campaign. Will he choose to speak up or stay silent?

 

 

This is a disgraceful award, considering the list of previous recipients who have, for the most part, stellar records of public service in a wide variety of endeavors.

 

But this is the moral universe that God Obama lords over.

Obama and Ayers not only demonstrated their shared view of Khalidi by funding him. They also gave glowing testimonials at a farewell dinner when Khalidi left the University of Chicago for Columbia’s greener pastures. That would be the same Columbia from which Obama graduated in 1983. 

We know precious little about Obama’s Columbia years, but the Los Angeles Times has reported that he studied under Said. In and of itself, that is meaningless: Said was a hotshot prof and hundreds of students took his comparative-lit courses. But Obama plainly maintained some sort of tie with Said — a photo making the Internet rounds shows Obama conversing with the great man himself at a 1998 Arab American community dinner in Chicago, where the Obamas and Saids were seated together.

Said had a wide circle of radical acquaintances. That circle clearly included Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. When they came out of hiding in the early 1980s (while Obama was attending Columbia), Ayers took education courses at Bank Street College, adjacent to Columbia in Morningside Heights — before earning his doctorate at Columbia’s Teachers College in 1987.

Obama advisor wants talks with terrorists
 
The revelations about Obama’s relationship with Khalidi follows a recent WND article quoting Israeli security officials who expressed “concern” about Robert Malley, an adviser to Obama who has advocated negotiations with Hamas and providing international assistance to the terrorist group.
 
Malley, a principal Obama foreign policy adviser, has penned numerous opinion articles, many of them co-written with a former adviser to the late Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, petitioning for dialogue with Hamas and blasting Israel for numerous policies he says harm the Palestinian cause.

Malley also previously penned a well-circulated New York Review of Books piece largely blaming Israel for the collapse of the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations at Camp David in 2000 when Arafat turned down a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza and eastern sections of Jerusalem and instead returned to the Middle East to launch an intifada, or terrorist campaign, against the Jewish state.

In 2008, the Barack Obama presidential campaign severed its ties with Malley after the latter told the Times of London that he had been in regular contact with Hamas as part of his work for ICG.

On November 5, 2008, Middle East Newsline reported that Obama recently “had sent senior foreign policy adviser Robert Malley to Egypt and Syria over the last few weeks to outline the Democratic candidate’s policy on the Middle East.” The report added that Malley had “relayed a pledge from Obama that the United States would seek to enhance relations with Cairo as well as reconcile with Damascus.” “The tenor of the messages was that the Obama administration would take into greater account Egyptian and Syrian interests,” said an aide to Malley.

Better have something to bite on before you start reading the intrepid Debra Burlingame’s Wall Street Journal op-ed this morning — your teeth are going to be gnashing big-time.

Unbelievably, the Obama Justice Department has withdrawn the “special administrative measures” (SAMs) imposed at the federal supermax prison in Colorado against “Shoe Bomber” Richard Reid (the jihadist who tried to blow up a trans-Atlantic flight with nearly 200 people on board). As Debra explains, the “SAMs are security directives, renewable yearly, issued by the attorney general when ‘there is a substantial risk that a prisoner’s communications, correspondence or contacts with persons could result in death or serious bodily injury’ to others.”

Why abandon the SAMs? Because they were a violation of Reid’s First Amendment rights to free speech and free exercise of his religion, of course. So the would-be suicide bomber went on a hungar strike and got results: a cave-in from the Obama Justice Department — which works closely with the “human rights” Left (some Obama DOJ lawyers are recruited from this faction; other top Obama DOJ lawyers aligned with it while they were in private practice, volunteering their services to enemy combatants held at Gitmo).

Exactly what was the First Amendment problem here? Debra explains:

In January, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Colorado issued a statement saying that conditions at supermax are “simply another form of torture” worse than Gitmo which “make a mockery of ‘innocent until proven guilty.’” Last month, the ACLU filed a civil lawsuit mirroring Reid’s religious rights claim on behalf of two terrorism inmates held at the Communications Management Unit inside a medium security prison in Terre Haute, Ind. One of those inmates is Enaam Arnaout, a Syrian-born U.S. citizen serving a 10-year sentence for diverting Muslim charity money to militant Islamic groups in Bosnia and Chechnya. The other, Randall Royer, is serving 20 years for his role recruiting young Muslims in the “Virginia Jihad Network,” a group that used paintball games in 2000-2001 to train for holy war.

The human-rights Left is already incorporating their fabulously successful smear-Gitmo strategy in their attack on our civilian prisons. Even Reid’s hungar-strike is page one in the Gitmo playbook. Here’s Debra again:

In a hand-written complaint, [Reid] asserted that he was being illegally prevented from performing daily “group prayers in a manner prescribed by my religion.” Yet the list of Reid’s potential fellow congregants at ADX Florence [i.e., the supermax prison] reads like a Who’s Who of al Qaeda’s most dangerous members: Ramzi Yousef and his three co-conspirators in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui; “Millennium bomber” Ahmed Ressam; “Dirty bomber” Jose Padilla; Wadih el-Hage, Osama Bin Laden’s personal secretary, convicted in the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombing that killed 247 people.

Sure it’s nuts, but as I detailed a couple of weeks ago, detainee policy in the Obama/Holder Justice Department is now being shaped by former Human Rights Watch lawyer Jennifer Daskal, who thinks incarceration is tantamount to torture (recall her complaint that one jihadist, “a self-styled poet,” was being subjected to severe mental trauma: He “found it was nearly impossible to write poetry anymore because the prison guards would only allow him to keep a pen or pencil in his cell for short periods of time”).

In my last column, I related the story of Mamdouh Salim, the al-Qaeda chieftain who maimed a prison guard and used the constitutional rights we gave him to try to kidnap his court-appointed lawyers in an escape attempt. The incident sits uneasily with Holder’s bold claim that “the Justice Department has a “history of securely detaining and successfully prosecuting terror suspects through the criminal-justice system.” What I didn’t point out — but Debra shows in spades — is that to have any chance of securely detaining terrorists in civilian prisons, the SAMs need to be imposed and aggressively enforced. 

 

Yet, even as Holder is making the “securely detaining” argument out of one side of his mouth, he’s abandoning the SAMs out of the other. And all the while, Obama is pushing to close Gitmo and bring scores of these trained terrorists into the civilian prison system. It’s madness.

Now a Jihadist, by simply going on a hunger strike is given concessions.  A Jihadist that tried to blow up an airplane containing nearly 200 PEOPLE with a shoe bomb….is being felt sorry for?

Honduras is the new frontline in the war against socialism.

Pro-Chavez Honduran president Manuel Zelaya, tried to push things too far too fast and offended against his country’s constituion. He was legally kicked out of office-just as US President Nixon would have been had he not resigned first.

Now the sides are squaring off. The internatioal left is calling for the restoration of Zelaya.

The freedom forces are backing the new Micheletti government.

  

 

 

 

 

This statement on Honduras from the Communist Party USA makes the situation clear.

 

Manuel Zelaya, the legitimate president of Honduras, has made a specific request to the Obama administration to increase pressure on the illegal regime of Roberto Micheletti, which was installed after a coup d’etat on the morning of June 28 of this year. Zelaya has asked the Obama administration to increase diplomatic and economic pressure on the illegitimate regime by taking actions targeting the main culprits. This happens at a critical moment when the talks mediated by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias have not progressed due to the intransigence of the coup regime, and when mass protest in Honduras has reached a peak with a general strike and with a growing mass movement in the streets to restore Mr. Zelaya, who is encamped on the Honduras-Nicaragua border, to the presidency.

 

 

 

The coup regime is isolated worldwide, but hangs on because it expects to be able to draw on material resources from the US, in spite of President Obama’s strong statement against the coup. The US ultra-right, led by figures such as Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and Congressman Connie Mack (R-FL), and supported by strong business, political media and military networks in the United States, are doing all they can to throw a lifeline to the illegal Micheletti regime. Their hope seems to be to keep the regime in power long enough that the scheduled November elections in Honduras (which Micheletti may move up) can take place under repressive conditions in which supporters of Zelaya’s program of progressive social and labor reforms can not openly campaign without risking jail or violence, and thus can not possibly win. Meanwhile, Micheletti’s de-facto government is increasing repression against labor, peasant, student and other opponents, with reports of several new deaths in the last two days.

 

The CPUSA agrees that it is necessary to ratchet up the pressure on the de-facto regime, and calls for the following actions:

 

We should contact the White House and the State Department to demand that the US government respond to President Zelaya’s request by taking the following immediate steps:

  

*Cancel US visas for the top military and political leaders of the coup.

*Freeze bank accounts in the US belonging to coup leaders as requested by Zelaya.

*Remove US personnel from the military base at Soto Cano, cease all coordination with the coup government’s armed forces, and expel Honduran officers currently being trained at the School of the Americas in Fort Benning Georgia.

*We should demand an end to the activities in support of the coup government by the International Republican Institute and other governmental and non-governmental organizations in the United States who have a heavy responsibility for the current situation.

Further, we should be contacting our members of Congress to ask that they sign on as co sponsors and work for the passage of House Resolution 630, which denounces the coup d’etat and asks the government to take measures to restore the constitutional order in Honduras. This resolution, introduced by Congressman Bill DeLaHunt (D-MA) has 40 cosponsors; this number has to be greatly increased.

Finally, the AFL-CIO, US Steelworkers and Local 10 of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union have led the way in calling for the restoral of Zelaya and the constitutional order in Honduras.

We should build on these initiatives by getting statements and actions in support from other unions, faith based organizations, and civic and community organizations of every description so as to build a massive solidarity movement with the Honduran people here in the United States.

 

There is no shooting yet-but that could change at any time. 

Honduras should be supported by all freedom lovers as the first serious reversal Latin America’s “red tide” has suffered.

If the West stands by Honduras it will embolden the counter-revolutionary forces in Bolivia and elsewhere in Latin America.

(B) COMMUNITY-BASED MEDICAL HOME DEFINED.—In this section, the term ‘community-based medical home’ means a nonprofit community-based or State-based organization that is certified under paragraph (2) as meeting the following requirements: beneficiaries with medical home services. Medical home services under the supervision of and in close collaboration with the primary care or principal care physician or nurse practitioner designated by the beneficiary as his or her community-based medical home provider. Community health workers, including nurses or other non-physician practitioners, lay health workers, or other persons as determined appropriate by the Secretary, that assist the primary or principal care physician or nurse practitioner in chronic care management activities such as teaching self-care skills for managing chronic illnesses, transitional care services, care plan setting, medication therapy management services for patients with multiple chronic diseases, or help beneficiaries access the health care and community-based resources in their local geographic area.

 

(5) PAYMENTS.

 

(A) ESTABLISHMENT OF METHODOLOGY.—The Secretary shall establish a methodology for the payment for medical home services furnished under the CBMH model.  

 

‘‘(B) PER BENEFICIARY PER MONTH PAYMENTS.—Under such payment methodology, theSecretary shall make two separate monthly payments for each high need beneficiary who consents to receive medical home services through such medical home, as follows:

(i) PAYMENT TO COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION.—One monthly payment to a community-based or State-based organization.

(ii) PAYMENT TO PRIMARY OR PRINCIPAL CARE PRACTICE.—One monthly payment to the primary or principal care practice for such beneficiary. 

 

 (g) FUNDING.—

(2) PATIENT-CENTERED MEDICAL HOME SERVICES.—In addition to funds otherwise available, there shall be available to the Secretary for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, from the Federal Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Fund under section 1841—

(A) $200,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2010 through 2014 for payments for medical home services under subsection (c)(3); and 

(B) $125,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2012 through 2016, for payments under subsection (d)(5).

Amounts available under this paragraph for a fiscal year shall be available until expended.

On Monday Obama protege, Alexi Giannoulias, 33, scion of the family that owns Broadway Bank. announced his candidacy for his mentor’s US Senate Seate.  

 

Giannoulias was among the first to raise money to support Obama’s 2004 US Senate Race. He is in the middle of his first term as Illinois State Treasurer, a position he owes to Obama’s endorsement in 2006.  Giannoulias’ lack of experience and the reputation of his family was such that no other prominent Illinois Democrat supported his candidacy.  In 2004, the Broadway bank was in the news over some loans to convicted felons with alleged mob ties.   Among its more questionable borrowers is Tony Rezko. Allegedly Rezko gambled that at least some of that money away in Las Vegas. 

 

When asked about his relative lack of political experience Obama’s protege responded:

 

“I don’t think it’s about who’s held office the longest,” he said. “I think it’s about who’s got the best ideas, who’s going to move this country forward, who has a history of having an innovative principled office, someone who’s going to bring some integrity back to the process so people can be proud of their United States senator.”

But his father, ALEXIS GIANNOULIAS, who passed away this summer, donated $10,000 to Blagojevich on June 29, 2005…Demetris Giannoulias, chief financial officer of Broadway Bank in Chicago – the institution where his father was chairman and his candidate brother is also an officer – was first appointed by Blagojevich in 2004 for a stint that expired in 2005. “‘Clout lists’ that tracked politically backed job seekers to Gov. Bright Start, Illinois’ college savings program for parents, lost $85 million on my watch - “The State of Illinois’ Bright Start College Savings program has been the victim of a gross mismanagement. That’s the charge being made by Illinois state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias as he prepares to file a lawsuit against Oppenheimer Funds, seeking to recover $85 million of losses in a bond fund that he alleges was imprudently managed. And I knew there were problems more than six months before I finally took action - “Mr. Giannoulias knew about problems in Bright Start’s Core Plus investment fund a full halfyear before he finally stopped throwing money into it.

According to Mr. Giannoulias’ office, he e-mailed Oppenheimer on May 6, saying he wanted to discuss Core Plus’ underperformance and how to “turn the ship around.” But it wasn’t until Dec. 4 — after the credit markets and Core Plus’ investments in mortgage-related securities had tanked — that the office diverted all new contributions from Core Plus to U.S. Treasuries.

Luckily, there was enough money left over to buy myself an SUV- “While parents come to grips with major investment losses in a college savings program, public records show that Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias’ office spent Bright Start proceeds to buy a $26,000 SUV he uses as his state car.

The purchase is surfacing as the politically ambitious Giannoulias continues to face criticism for his oversight of the Bright Start investment program, which lost $85 million last year.

I approved $12 million in loans to Michael “Jaws” Giorango, a reputed mob figure, convicted bookmaker and prostitution promoter - “Earlier, Giannoulias also had tried to distance himself from the loans, saying they occurred in the 1990s, when he was not a full-time employee at the bank. But subsequent reports revealed that Giannoulias had overseen $11.8 million in loans to a firm run by Giorango and Stavropoulos last year when Giannoulias was senior loan officer…Giannoulias insisted Wednesday he only meant that the bank’s business with Giorango began when he was away at law school. $3 million of that money went towards buying a casino – “During the March primary, Giannoulias said Broadway Bank “never financed any casinos. We never did anything like that.” The Tribune later revealed that Broadway last year lent $3.6 million to Giorango and Stavropoulos to acquire a casino boat marina in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Giannoulias previously said he thought that property was for condos, but on Wednesday said that comment was a mistake. (Chicago Tribune, Giannoulias speaks up on loans, April 27, 2006)

I tried to claim I didn’t know – “Giannoulias insisted he only knew that Giorango had “some legal problems” while he was servicing the loans, declining to say whether he knew they were criminal in nature. But later I admitted that I did – “On Wednesday, Giannoulias said he once discussed Giorango’s criminal past with him.” – (Chicago Tribune, Giannoulias speaks up on loans, April 27, 2006)

I didn’t see what the big deal was – “Giannoulias described Giorango as a “very nice person” to the Chicago Tribune and questioned “what the charges are that makes him this huge crime figure.” – (Chicago Sun Times, Youth seems to be trumping experience in treasurer race, November 2, 2006)

I made a $1 million loan to an elderly and mentally incompetent woman, even though I knew her partners had a history of fraud: Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias took the witness stand Tuesday to defend a controversial $1 million loan that his family’s bank made in 2002 to an elderly woman who could now lose her home…Broadway Bank officials made the loan to Loren Billings, then 83, despite what Billings’ son claims were indications that she was mentally incompetent and being swindled by three business partners…Giannoulias, a bank employee in 2002, testified Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court that when he met with Billings, she seemed competent, knew what she wanted to do and had good credit…Giannoulias acknowledged, though, that he had concerns about her partners, so he wrote Billings a letter in 2002 that warned her that they had poor credit and that two of them may have been involved in fraud…But Giannoulias said he shouldn’t have been expected to do more. “It’s not the bank’s place to tell the individual or family what to do with the loan,” he testified. I loaned $400,000 to Ugur Yildiz, a gun dealer who was sued by the City of Chicago and shut down by the ATF for illegally selling hundreds of guns to criminals - According to official property records, Broadway Bank made a series of mortgage loans for as much as $400,000 between 2001 and 2004 to Ugur Yildiz for land at 3309-3315 N. Mannheim Road in Franklin Park. That’s where Bell’s Gun & Sport Shop Inc. has operated since at least the mid-1990s. State records list Mr. Yildiz as the incorporator and agent for the company that owned the business…Bell’s was sued by the city of Chicago in 1998 over allegations that hundreds of its firearms ended up in the hands of criminals. Though the suit was dismissed, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) revoked its license last fall because of “serious inventory bookkeeping errors,” says an ATF spokesman. “There’s no denying they sold a large amount of guns that were acquired in criminal investigations,” he adds. Was Burris told NOT to run for re-election of his appointed Senate Seat by Obama, Emanuel and Valerie Jarrett so Giannoulias could run?  Will Obama, et. al challenge any candidate running against Giannoulias to “clear the way” so Giannoulias will be the only candidate on the ballot…. as Obama did in his U.S. Senate race?

Is Giannoulias where Rahm Emanuel got the idea of the DEAD FISH?  At least it wasn’t dead rats or HORSE HEADS!

  “someone who’s going to bring some integrity back to the process so people can be proud of their United States senator.”

Obama File 80 Michelle and Barack’s Black Panther Mentor

US President Obama has waded into a controversy over the arrest, in his own house of black Harvard academic Henry Louis Gates.

Why would Obama risk a public backlash defending this man and criticising the police?

Well it turns out that Obama regards Gates as a friend and they have several acquaintances in common on the black left.

Gates co-wrote two books with Obama’s “comrade”, Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member Cornel West. Gates is also close to another DSA supporter who Obama once shared a DSA organized forum with-academic William Julius Wilson.

But more interestingly Gates’ lawyer Charles Ogletree is a long time friend and mentor to both Michelle and Barack Obama.

It also turns out that Ogletree was a hard core radical with roots in the Maoist influenced Black Panthers movement. It also seems that Ogletree is still a militant leftist and is still called on by the Obamas for advice.

In 1970, Charles Ogletree enrolled at Stanford University near San Francisco, then a major center of black activism. Ogletree became a campus radical, organizing an Afrocentric dormitory and editing a campus Black Panthers newspaper called The Real News. He also traveled to Africa and Cuba with student activist groups. In 1973 Ogletree was president of the radical Black Student Union.

Ogletree’s first interest in the law came when he attended the trial of Black Power activist and then Communist Party USA member Angela Davis.

By 1986 Ogletree was director of Harvard’s introduction to trial advocacy workshops, where students were taught that law can be “an instrument for social and political change…a tool to empower the dispossessed and disenfranchised… and a means to make the privileged more respectful of differences,“

Ogletree also began a Saturday School Program so that “African-American students could learn from other professionals of their own heritage“. Barack Obama became one of his regular students.

Ogletree claims to have mentored  both Michelle and Barack Obama during their time at Harvard. According to Ogletree the Obama’s have called on him for advice since that time.

“I met Michelle when she started her legal career here at Harvard in the fall of 1985, and I was able to watch her develop into a very strong and powerful student leader. She was an active member of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, where she served as a student attorney for indigent clients who had civil cases and needed legal help…”

“I met Barack three years later when he arrived at Harvard Law School in fall of 1988. He was quiet and unassuming, but had an incredibly sharp mind and a thirst for knowledge. He was a regular participant in a program that I created called the Saturday School Program, which was a series of workshops and meetings held on Saturday mornings to expose minority students, in particular, to critical issues in the study of law. Even then I saw his ability to quickly grasp the most complicated legal issues and sort them out in a clear, concise fashion.

I was faculty adviser to the Harvard Black Law Student Association. I routinely gave career advice, and often personal advice, to students who would come in with questions about where they should work, how they should use their legal skills and talent, and was it possible to do well and do good…My advice to people like Barack and Michelle was that they could easily navigate the challenges of a corporate career and find a variety of ways to serve their community—through financial support, through volunteer legal services, and through getting involved in community efforts. So this advice started then, and I guess it must have been useful enough. They have not hesitated to call on me over the past 20-plus years as needed.

It’s one thing to see Michelle and Barack keep their promises by going back to Chicago and serving those communities. It’s another thing to see them have the dream of leading the nation as the President and First Lady and to see that happen. I was most deeply touched during Barack’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention in Denver…It was a moment of deep reflection that I will never forget, and it is an incredible reality today to realize that not only are the President and First Lady younger than me, but they are two people that I’ve had the honor and pleasure of mentoring over the past 20 years.”

After the election Ogletree had messages for both of his protoges.

 

“For the President, it was a personal message about the things that he needed to do. Without getting into any details, the central point was: Make sure you keep your promises. With Michelle, it was more my sense and my hope, that has now been realized, that she would not just be a great First Lady and a phenomenal First Mom, but that she would also be able to use her many gifts and talents in the community in ways that were natural to her. I’ve been particularly pleased this past week to see her not only out building support for her husband’s stimulus package, but talking about families and children and education and health care, where she’s going to be incredibly helpful”.

As Ogletree seems not to have abandoned his youthful radicalism, it might be interesting to know what kind of advice he has given the first couple over the years.

 

In 2000 Ogletree joined the Reparations Coordinating Committee, a group pursuing a lawsuit to win reparations for descendants of African slaves.

The committee was convened by the TransAfrica Forum, a partner organization the radical Institute for Policy Studies. Ogletree serves on the Board of TransAfrica Forum-alongside long time Communist Party USA front activist Johnetta Cole and board chairman and Progressives for Obama founder Danny Glover.

The committees objectives were;

”To ascertain, document, and report comparative repair and restitution in the United States and abroad on behalf of the contemporary victims of slavery and the century-long practice of de jure racial discrimination which followed slavery;”

”A. To detail a range of feasible relief, reform, reconciliation, and restitution initiatives to make America better for everyone.”

”B. To identify and structure causes of action that would be cognizable in domestic and international tribunals and courts;”

”C. To begin a comprehensive review of such initiatives with leading domestic and international institutions”;

”D. And to work cooperatively with other groups pursuing reparation claims.”

The committee, which Ogletree co-chaired was a mixture of top trial layers and seasoned radical activists. It included Johnnie Cochran of OJ Simpson fame Randall Robinson and Ogletree’s co-chair Adjoa Aiyetoro, a former official of the Communist Party USA front US Peace Council with Obama’s one time employer Alice Palmer.

On December 8 2005, Former Black Panther members John Bowman, Hank Jones and Ray Boudreaux held a meeting at the Washington, D.C. office of Trans-Africa Forum. They were complaining about re-newed police investigations of a 1971 police killing in San Francisco that they had been accused of.

The three Panthers had been indicted at the time by a grand jury, but were released when the court rendered a decision stating the methods used to obtain information were unlawful.

The former Panthers were flanked by Danny Glover, reparations activist Ron Daniels, Democratic Socialists of America activist and Progressives for Obama co-founder Bill Fletcher jr and Charles Ogletree.

Ogletree, said that the community should protect the rights of the former Panthers with their lives

””These gentlemen, Ray Boudreaux, Hank Jones and others have been victims of the most vicious forms of American terrorism and torture…It takes a village to protect its elders. We tell them today, through our presence here and through our commitment that we will provide a protective blanket over them. They will not come in this village and take these elders, except over our dead bodies”.”

Barack Obama called on Ogletree and Democratic Socialists of America member Cornel West, during his 2008 Presidential campaign. Ogletree and West both joined Obama’s Black Advisory Council.

”Ogletree has advised Obama on reforming the criminal-justice system as well on constitutional issues. He is a member of the Obama campaign’s black advisory council, which also includes Cornel West, who teaches African-American studies at Princeton University. The group formed after Obama skipped a conference on African-American issues in Hampton, Va., to announce his presidential candidacy in Illinois.

FARC Financing the Demonstrations In Support For Zelaya

FARC….hmmm

Where have we heard that name before?  Oh, yes it is the organization that has history with our own Attorney General Eric Holder.

Eric Holder’s “involvement” in arranging payoffs with FARC (a terrorist organization of the same wretched sort as Al Queda) and Chiquita Company in Columbia is more than enough — or should be — for conscientious Americans to denounce Holder’s deplorably poor judgement.

As also Holder’s history arranging payoffs and other “deals” with the Puerto Rican terrorist group, FALN. Outrageous! The man could sit in an office in Cuba or Venezuela and still not be amidst those as service-ready to terrorist operations as Holder is.

FARC is denounced for financing mobs

Tegucigalpa. , Honduras

A complaint before the Public Prosecutor said that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) would fund demonstrations in favor of former Honduras President Manuel Zelaya.

The FARC is a guerrilla group that is self-proclaimed Marxist-Leninist, are members of the Colombian armed conflict since its formation in 1964. The FARC is considered a terrorist group of 31 states were linked to drug trafficking and weapons.

In the international version that transpired information held by judicial authorities in Colombia show that the FARC would be funded groups, organizations, and political workers, who demonstrate in the streets for Mel. What would be looking to generate violence in the country.

The president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, is involved in a scandal that would have a link with the FARC. It was alleged that the agent would have received funding from this group to achieve power.

A video shows that a FARC leader mentioned assumptions dollar contributions to his political campaign in 2006.

Break diplomatic relations with Venezuela

Tegucigalpa. The delegations of Honduras and Venezuela in Caracas in Tegucigalpa must return to their homes today at noon.

This is called Honduras, after Hugo Chávez, president of Venezuela, uttered insults against the Honduran people and threatened with an invasion and war. This consists of breaking diplomatic relations. The minister, Marta Alvarado, read a statement on Tuesday where he asked the delegation to Venezuela to leave the country. That investigation turned to the delegation in Venezuela Catrachos. Alvarado said that he was granted a period of 72 hours for both delegations to meet the request. Chavez’s constant has been the threat and intimidation, since June 28, when Manuel Zelaya was removed from power.
