School Officials in Mass. Town Won’t Let Students Recite Pledge of Allegiance **UPDATED**

When Sean Harrington entered his freshman year at Arlington High School, he noticed something peculiar: There were no American flags in the classrooms, and no one recited the Pledge of Allegiance. 

So Harrington enlisted the aid of his fellow students, and now, three years later, they have succeeded in getting flags installed in the classrooms. But the pledge still will not be recited.

The Arlington, Mass., school committee has rejected the 17-year-old’s request to allow students to voluntarily recite the Pledge of Allegiance, because some educators are concerned that it would be hard to find teachers willing to recite it, according to a report in the Arlington Patch.

Harrington had presented school officials with a petition signed by 700 people, along with letters of support from lawmakers including Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn. 

But the request to have the pledge recited failed when the committee’s vote ended in a 3-3 tie.

I was really heartbroken,” Harrington told FOX News Radio. “It’s hard to think that something so traditional in American society was turned down.”

His fight has received quite a bit of support from the community. “When I was going to school, it was an honor and a privilege to pledge allegiance to the flag,” Francis De Guglielmo, 55, told the Patch. He called the ban an “absolute travesty” and a “disgrace.”

Harrington, who will be a senior in the fall, said he will continue to fight. “I’m not a person who quits and I don’t back down. It’s a very righteous cause and needs to be followed through until the end.”

Some committee members voiced concerns about forcing people to do something that might violate their beliefs – including religious beliefs. Among the no-votes was committee member Leba Heigham.

“Patriotism is a very personal thing for all of us, but I do not think it is in the school committee’s best interest to mandate that any of our employees recite the pledge,” she told the Patch.

Harrington said the recitation would have been strictly voluntary.

“If we can’t find one teacher who is willing to say the pledge, then the system we have is cracked,” he told FOX News Radio, noting that a number of teachers signed his petition.

He said the school’s ban on the pledge sends the wrong message.

Massachusetts School Offers to Allow Pledge of Allegiance — but Not in Class

 

Student Sean Harrington appears to have won his fight to bring the Pledge of Allegiance back into his Massachusetts high school — except the principal’s proposed solution leaves the daily honor to the nation’s flag literally hanging in the hall.

Charles Skidmore, principal of Arlington High School in Arlington, Mass., has offered to allow students to recite the pledge before  school begins — but in the school’s foyer and not in the classrooms, as 17-year-old Harrington had hoped.

Kathleen Bodie, Arlington superintendent of schools, told Fox News Radio that “The principal wanted to be very respectful about the pledge and be sensitive to the Supreme Court ruling that students are not forced to say the pledge. He wanted to be sensitive to the diverse group of students we have.”

Bodie said there has been reluctance to put the district’s teachers in a position of reciting the pledge, and she acknowledged that some have raised concerns about its inclusion of the words “under God.”

He said the school’s ban on the pledge sent the wrong message. “It tells me that we’ve basically cast aside what our country is founded on,” he said. “It’s saying that we don’t really care, and it’s sad.”

The superintendent of a Provincetown, Mass., school district is apologizing to parents for what she calls a misunderstanding over a condom availability policy.

In an e-mailed letter sent out on Tuesday, Superintendent Beth Singer said that the district will clarify that elementary school-age students won’t be able to get a condom if they request one from the school nurse.

The condom distribution policy — approved by the Provincetown school board unanimously on June 8 – allows all district students to get access to free condoms without parental notification and does not specify a minimum age or grade level for who can be given condoms.

The open-ended language and lack of parental control resulted in the attention of conservative organizations and national media. Massachusetts Family Institute said the move would give children as young as 6 access to condoms. “Making condoms available to first-graders bullies parents to submit to an agenda that promotes sexual promiscuity to innocent children at their most vulnerable age,” the group stated in a press release.

Massachusetts’ Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick, who is running for re-election against two conservative candidates in November, called to complain about the lack of an age limit and the school’s decision not to tell parents about any requests students may make, even though, he admitted, it was a local issue.

Wall Street Journal: Obama’s Radical Environmental Agenda vs. Wisconsin Workers

 

The Bucyrus Travesty
A tale of two Obama loan guarantees.

The manager of a Milwaukee custard stand on Friday asked Joe Biden for lower taxes in return for dessert, and the Vice President told him not to be “a smartass.” Perhaps on his own visit to Wisconsin today, President Obama will have a better answer for the latest blue-collar casualties of his Administration’s anticarbon obsessions.

Last Thursday, the U.S. Export-Import Bank denied loan guarantees to Reliance Power Ltd., an Indian utility building a coal-fired power plant near Sasan, India. Bucyrus International Inc., a South Milwaukee-based manufacturer, was ready to export some $310 million in mining equipment—and about $600 million over three years—but Reliance’s order was contingent on the favorable financing rates provided by the Ex-Im guarantee. Reliance cancelled the order Monday morning and will reboot with Bucyrus’s competitors in China or Belarus if the bank doesn’t reverse in the coming days.

The Reliance-Bucyrus deal met all of the Export-Import Bank’s qualifying criteria, including the tougher environmental and CO2 standards that the White House has imposed over the last several months. But the bank nonetheless rejected the project in a 2-to-1 vote under pressure from the Treasury and State Departments. “We were absolutely flabbergasted and shocked,” Bucyrus CEO Tim Sullivan told us in an interview.

According to Mr. Sullivan, the decision was reached because the “carbon footprint” of the project is too large, though the Ex-Im Bank has published no objective guidelines to quantify that judgment. “President Obama has made clear his Administration’s commitment to transition away from high-carbon investments and toward a cleaner-energy future,” Obama-appointed Ex-Im Chairman Fred Hochberg said in a statement. After “careful deliberation,” he added, the project’s “adverse environmental impact” made it untenable.

Those deliberations can’t have been too careful, however, given that the Sasan plant is already under construction and is scheduled to open in 2012. The coal to feed it will still be mined, and demon carbon will still be emitted. The only difference is that an American business, and the 1,000 or so people who work there or for the companies in its 13-state Midwest supply chain and were depending on the project, will no longer benefit.

We’ve long opposed the Export-Import Bank, which was established to aid U.S. manufacturing exports with loan guarantees, when the market is a better arbiter of the allocation of capital. Then again, the bank is the prototype for Mr. Obama’s agenda of politically directed credit, which makes the Bucyrus decision especially revealing about White House priorities.

In February, for instance, the Administration approved a $528 million low-cost loan to Fisker Automotive, which plans to build a luxury hybrid car that will sell for $48,000 before Uncle Sam’s $7,500 tax credit. Fisker’s plant is in Mr. Biden’s hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.

“Spin is no substitute for a real budget” – Setting the record straight on Democrats’ unprecedented budget failure

WASHINGTON – House Democrats have already admitted failure on their most fundamental governing responsibility. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer made clear last week that for the first time in the modern era, no effort will be made to offer a congressional budget. Since this admission, House Democrats have waged a press offensive to deliberately mischaracterize their deeming resolution as a “budget” in hopes that the media – and the American people – give Congressional Democrats a pass on their failure to pass a budget.

In speeches, interviews, releases and more, Democrats have sought to evade responsibility for addressing record deficits and debt; use the fiscal commission as cover for their refusal to get a grip on out-of-control spending; and spin their budget failure into something it is not.

In response to recent comments on the budget from leading House Democrats, House Budget Committee Ranking Republican Paul Ryan (WI) issued the following statement:

“This year’s budget failure is not only unprecedented – but especially alarming given the urgent need to set our government’s finances on a sustainable fiscal course. Democrats’ efforts to deliberately mischaracterize their budget failure demonstrate a failure of governance and a failure of leadership. A ‘budget enforcement resolution’ begs the question: what budget is this resolution enforcing?

“American families struggling to meet their own budgets deserve better. Spin is no substitute for a real budget, real spending restraints, and real leadership.”

President Barack Obama’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme court, Elena Kagan, has been sold to the public as a “moderate” – yes, a little liberal leaning, but moderate none the less.

In this first of a series of posts, I look at Elena Kagan’s patterns of association.

If Elena Kagan is a moderate, why then has she long associated with people connected to three interrelated organizations – the Communist Party USA, the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee/ Democratic Socialists of America and the far left Washington D.C. think tank, Institute for Policy Studies?

Raised on New Yorks’ Upper West Side, Elena Kagan’s parents were both politically active in a place and era where politics was dominated by the Democratic, Socialist and Communist parties.

Elena’s mother Gloria Kagan campaigned to elect far left Democratic Congressman, William Fitts Ryan. Her older brother Marc Kagan was active in the socialist influenced New Directions movement in the Transport Workers Union. When one of its leaders, Roger Toussaint, was elected union president in 2000, Mr. Kagan became his chief of staff, until a falling out occurred in 2003.

Marc Kagan’s former comrade and boss, Roger Toussaint is prominent in the communist initiated Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, which now led by D.S.A. member William Lucy. He also serves in the leadership of the Center for the Study of Working Class Life at Stony Brook University, alongside Ray Markey from the Communist Party offshoot Committees of Correspondence and D.S.A. leaders Gerry Hudson, Mark Levinson, Stanley Aronowitz and Frances Fox Piven, co-originator of the infamous Cloward – Piven Strategy.

Elena Kagan would later dedicate her Princeton history thesis on socialism in New York City to her activist brother.

 

I would like to thank my brother Marc whose involvement in radical causes led me to explore the history of American radicalism and in the hope of clarifying my own political ideas.

Kagan first became interested in politics in high school and worked as a legislative intern for Rep. Ted Weiss, a Democrat from New York, during the summer of 1978, and as deputy press secretary for Rep. Liz Holtzman in the summer after her junior year.

The late Ted Weiss was very far to the left. In 1978 Congressmen Ted Weiss, John Burton, Ron Dellums (D.S.A. member), John Conyers (D.S.A. supporter) , Don Edwards, Charles Rangel and others, attended a meeting organized for the Soviet front World Peace Council on Capitol Hill.

W.P.C. delegation members included President Romesh Chandra (Communist Party of India), KGB Colonel Radomir Bogdanov and Oleg Kharkhardin of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union International Department.

In 1981 another World Peace Council delegation led by Romesh Chandra toured the U.S. to publicize the “nuclear freeze” then being promoted by Leonid Brezhnev.

This group met with several far left Congressmen at the Capitol, including Weiss, John Conyers, George Crockett, Ron Dellums, Don Edwards and Mervyn Dymally.

During one of the meetings in these Congressmen’s offices an official of the Communist Party USA reportedly was present and made a speech recommending that the “peace movement” unite in supporting the cause of several terrorist groups including the PLO and the communist guerillas in EI Salvador

Weiss was also close to the Institute for Policy Studies. In 1983 I.P.S. celebrated its 20th anniversary with an April 5, reception at the National Building Museum attended by approximately 1,000 I.P.S. staffers and former staff.

The Congressional I.P.S. committee members included Ted Weiss, Philip Burton , George Crockett, Ron Dellums , Tom Harkin and Leon Panetta, later appointed by President Obama to head the Central Intelligence Agency.

Liz Holtzman is also way left of center. In the late 1980s and early 1980′s the Marxist based Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee, or D.S.O.C. (later to become Democratic Socialists of America, or D.S.A.) was highly influential inside the New York Democratic Party and city government – even Mayor David Dinkins was a member.

On August 6 1993, a rally to commemorate Hiroshima Day was held in Dag Hammarskjold Park, New York. The rally was designed “to kickoff a national campaign to collect a million signatures supporting a Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, commend president Clinton for extending the nuclear testing moratorium, urge renewal of the Non Proliferation Treaty, urge swift and complete nuclear disarmament.”

The event was sponsored by the radical Metro New York Peace Action Council.

Speakers included Liz Holtzman, then NYC Comptroller, leftist Congressmen Charles Rangel and Edolphus Towns, Leslie Cagan of Committees of Correspondence and the Cuba Information Project, Congressmen Major Owens (D.S.A. member) and Jerry Nadler (D.S.O.C. member) NYC City Councilor Ruth Messinger (D.S.O.C./ D.S.A. member) and David McReynolds, a leader of the Socialist Party USA and also a D.S.A. member.

Nearly 5 years later, in March 1998, McReynolds delivered a eulogy at a memorial service for Chicago D.S.A. activist Saul Mendelson. Fellow D.S.A. comrades Carl Marx Shier and Deborah Meier also spoke, as did then Illinois State Senator Barack Obama.

At Princeton Elena Kagan’s political beliefs emerged in an opinion piece she wrote for the Daily Princetonian a few weeks after Ronald Reagan’s victorious 1980 election night. Kagan described her disappointment at Liz Holtzman’s Congressional loss (Kagan had worked on her campaign) and her own “liberal views”. “I absorbed … liberal principles early,” she said. “More to the point, I have retained them fairly intact to this day.”

In the column, Kagan also expressed her despair the state of the political left at the time, bemoaning the lack of “real Democrats — not the closet Republicans that one sees so often these days” and the success of “anonymous but Moral Majority-backed … avengers of ‘innocent life’ and the B-1 Bomber, these beneficiaries of a general turn to the right and a profound disorganization on the left.”

At Princeton, Elena Kagan’s law school room mate was Sarah Walzer, the daughter of Princeton social sciences professor Michael Walzer.

Coincidentally Michael Walzer was a leader of the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee, both nationally and on campus..

In 1990 Michael Walzer was identified as a member of Democratic Socialists of America.

Professor Walzer was also upset at Ronald Reagan’s famous victory

In her undergraduate thesis at Princeton entitled “To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900-1933,” Kagan lamented the decline of socialism in the country as “sad” for those who still hope to “change America.” She asked why the “greatness” of socialism was not reemerging as a major political force:

In our own times, a coherent socialist movement is nowhere to be found in the United States. Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism’s glories than of socialism’s greatness. Why, in a society by no means perfect, has a radical party never attained the status of a major political force? Why, in particular, did the socialist movement never become an alternative to the nation’s established parties?

“Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism’s glories than of socialism’s greatness,” she wrote in her thesis. “Conformity overrides dissent; the desire to conserve has overwhelmed the urge to alter. Such a state of affairs cries out for explanation.”

Kagan called the story of the socialist movement’s demise “a sad but also a chastening one for those who, more than half a century after socialism’s decline, still wish to change America … In unity lies their only hope.”

Elena Kagan spent a year working on her 1981 thesis, under the direction of Princeton historian Sean Wilentz.

When news of the thesis recently sparked controversy, Wilentz came out in defense of his former student.

Said Wilentz “sympathy for the movement of people who were trying to better their lives isn’t something to look down on… Studying something doesn’t necessarily mean that you endorse it. It means you’re into it. That’s what historians do…

Elena Kagan is about the furthest thing from a socialist. Period. And always had been. Period.”

Few would be more qualified to identify a socialist than Sean Wilentz

In May 1980, Princeton University’s Progressive Forum sponsored a May Day rally opposite the Firestone Library. An advertisement for the event in the Daily Princetonian, “Workers of Princeton unite for a May Day rally” named speakers as Sean Wilentz and Stanley Aronowitz – prominent D.S.A. leader

Today Sean Willentz serves on the board of Dissent magazine, which is effectively a mouthpiece for Democratic Socialists of America.

Dissent’s masthead is Marxist heavy and lists several well known D.S.A. affiliates including the late Irving Howe, Joanne Barkan, David Bensman, Mitchell Cohen, Maxine Phillips, Mark Levinson, Bogdan Denitch, Erazim Kohak, Deborah Meier, Harold Meyerson, Jo-Ann Mort, Carol O’Clearicain (NYC Finance Commissioner under David Dinkins) and Cornel West – a member of Barack Obama’s 2008 Black Advisory Council.

One of Dissent’s two editors is Elena Kagan’s old room mate’s Dad, Michael Walzer.

The other is Michael Kazin, an historian of the Communist Party and a veteran of the 1969 Venceremos Brigade to Cuba.

At Princeton, Elena Kagan won a fellowship to Oxford University, in England, where she studied “the history of British and European trade unionism.”

President Obama himself, has a long history with Democratic Socialists of America.

Is it possible that Elena Kagan shares similar associations?

Should she be asked some questions on the subject?

Union Bosses Rolling in Dough, But Still Seeking a Bailout?

Some people always have their hand in the cookie jar.

The New York Daily News conducted an audit of union bosses in the tri-state area and the abuses being conducted would make Tony Soprano cringe.

At the top of the list sits: Hector Lopez. Lopez is the president of metal polishers local 8A-28A – which had a nearly $330,000 deficit in 2008.

But Lopez is doing just fine. His $148,000 salary – is $40,000 more than the union’s rules allow.

His brand new mansion is owned by a windows company that has a contract with Lopez’s  union!

His $20,000 Cadillac escalade was reportedly bought using funds preserved for strikes and the union’s American Express bill had Lopez charging $4,400 worth of unexplained purchases!

But we’re not just going to focus on mister Lopez. The paper goes on to highlight his brothers in arms!

Rocco Miranti – is the head of local 223 – for toy and novelty workers and  last year, his 1,000+ member union was nearly a half a million dollars in debt- and it’s pension fund – almost non-existent!

But Miranti and his family raked in more than $400,000 last year alone!

Rocco only averaged eight hours a week – and just his paycheck rang up past $185,000

And this could be the most frustrating: union boss Bill Duffy – of operating engineers local 138 -less than 20% of this Long Island union is employed,  but duffy, his brother, son, and nephew – are surviving on more than $679,000.

By the way – the nephew , according to the Daily News, is listed as a clerical worker – with a salary in the six figures!

When Adolf Hitler was building up the Nazi movement in the 1920s, leading up to his taking power in the 1930s, he deliberately sought to activate people who did not normally pay much attention to politics.

Such people were a valuable addition to his political base, since they were particularly susceptible to Hitler’s rhetoric and had far less basis for questioning his assumptions or his conclusions.

“Useful idiots” was the term supposedly coined by V.I. Lenin to describe similarly unthinking supporters of his dictatorship in the Soviet Union.

Put differently, a democracy needs informed citizens if it is to thrive, or ultimately even survive.

In our times, American democracy is being dismantled, piece by piece, before our very eyes by the current administration in Washington, and few people seem to be concerned about it.

The president’s poll numbers are going down because increasing numbers of people disagree with particular policies of his, but the damage being done to the fundamental structure of this nation goes far beyond particular counterproductive policies.

Just where in the Constitution of the United States does it say that a president has the authority to extract vast sums of money from a private enterprise and distribute it as he sees fit to whomever he deems worthy of compensation? Nowhere.

Obama Looks to Activists to Rally Support for Immigration Policy Overhaul

The AP reports:

WASHINGTON — President Obama is enlisting activists and labor leaders in a push for comprehensive immigration legislation that will showcase Republican opposition and include a speech by the president.

The strategy was discussed during a meeting Monday by a range of prominent labor leaders and activist groups. Participants said Obama reiterated his support for immigration legislation but noted the political realities that have stalled it in Congress.

Latino leaders say they will work  in coming months to pressure Republicans to give way and support an immigration bill — and make opponents pay at the ballot box if they don’t.

“We’re going to make absolutely crystal clear who’s at fault here,” said Eliseo Medina, a leader of the Service Employees International Union.

Prospects for passage of comprehensive immigration legislation look bleak this election year, and even many Democrats are wary of wading into the hot-button issue. But Obama, who pledged as a candidate to make immigration reform a top priority during his first year in office, faces pressure from the Hispanic community to act — or at least to try.

That’s only intensified in the wake of Arizona’s passage of a controversial law that requires police officers to question a person’s immigration status if there’s reason to suspect the person is in the country illegally. Obama has spoken out against the law and asked the Justice Department to examine its legality. Activists anticipate that the Justice Department will sue to overturn the law, but in Monday’s meeting  Obama said that decision would be left up to the department, and he didn’t give a timeline, participants said.

DHS head Janet Napolitano says that illegal aliens are no longer coming across the border. Video tells a different story though, as over 700 illegal aliens streamed past this one motion activated camera in a one month period. Things are getting desperate in immigrant communities in the United States. While as many as 14 other states consider legislation like Arizona’s noxious SB 1070, the prospect of a comprehensive immigration reform to provide legalization for the 10.8 million undocumented immigrants gets harder.

Now the administration has decided to send 1,200 National Guard soldiers to the U.S-Mexico border. Although there is some speculation that this is being done so that President Obama can tell the Republicans that he has secured the border and that they should respond by supporting comprehensive immigration reform, others point out that there is no agreement on this.

House speaker Nancy Pelosi says she supports comprehensive immigration reform, but wants the Senate to move on it first.  The Democratic Party leadership in the Senate and the White House say they support reform, but want to make sure that legislation is bipartisan, with no filibuster, so they want a commitment from Republicans before moving on it. But the Republicans are in full anti-immigrant cry, and are not likely to give the Democrats the gift of political cover in an election year. The right-wing populist section of the GOP, represented by the organizers of the Tea Party movement and figures like former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, have decided to make immigrant-bashing a major part of their strategy for November. Republicans like Arizona’s Senator John McCain, frightened by this, are joining in the attacks.

There is a bill in the House, HR 4321, which embodies much of what is needed in immigration reform. The bill, introduced back in the fall of 2009, is sponsored by Rep. Solomon Ortiz (D-TX) and has 97 cosponsors, mostly from the Hispanic, Black, Asian and Progressive Caucuses.  It would provide for the legalization of the vast majority of the undocumented over a period of time. It abolishes 287 (g), the federal program that has made situations like that of Arizona easier by facilitating the deputization of state and local police as immigration enforcement agents. It does have some enforcement dimensions, but most of them are things that are already being done anyway. It does not have a major new guest worker program, which is why it is supported by both the AFL-CIO and the major Change to Win unions. It incorporates the DREAM Act, which legalizes undocumented youth who are able to get into college or who are willing to serve in the military or some sort of service corps. It also incorporates the AgJobs Act, to provide seasonal visas for migrant agricultural workers

New York Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler is chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.

In 2009, while serving in that role Nadler effectively halted a bill to deny Federal funding to the besieged radical “community group” ACORN, on the grounds that it was an unconstitutional “Bill of Attainder”.

A little while ago, the House passed an amendment to the bill that we were considering that says no contract or federal funds may ever go to ACORN, a named organization, or to any individual or organization affiliated with ACORN. Unfortunately, this was done in the spirit of the moment and nobody had the opportunity to point out that this is a flat violation of the Constitution, constituting a Bill of Attainder. The Constitution says that Congress shall never pass a Bill of Attainder. Bills of Attainder, no matter what their form, apply either to a named individual or to easily ascertainable members of a group, to inflict punishment. That’s exactly what this amendment does

Interestingly, the investigation was driven by Rep. John Conyers, the far left Democrat from Michigan – a man with close ties to the Marxist based Democratic Socialists of America.

Strangely, ACORN is very closely tied to D.S.A. and has been for decades.

Now it turns out that Rep. Nadler also has close ties to Democratic Socialists of America.

So when the D.S.A. connected John Conyers, called for an investigation of D.S.A. connected ACORN, the effort was brought to an halt, by the D.S.A. connected Jerry Nadler. What are the chances?

When Nadler served in the New York state legislature in the late 1970s, he was an open and well known member of the Democratic Socialist Socialist Organizing Committee, which merged with former communists and student radicals from the New American Movement to form D.S.A. in 1982.

Like President Obama, Jerry Nadler has long been close to Democratic Socialists of America – regularly attending the D.S. A. sponsored annual Socialist Scholars Conferences in New York.

At the 1995 Socialist Scholars Conference Nadler served on Panel 1 “Crisis In The City” with D.S.A. honorary chair Frances Fox Piven, co-originator of the notorious Cloward – Piven Strategy of deliberately overloading city and state welfare systems to the point of bankruptcy.

In April 1996, Nadler was attended the 14th Annual Socialist Scholars Conference, themed : “Two Cheers for Utopia: Re – imagining Socialism”

Nadler shared a panel with Frances Fox Piven and Stanley Aronowitz of D.S.A entitled “The Left and the Job Agenda in the U.S.”

Nadler was also listed as a speaker at the 1997 Socialist Scholars Conference held in March at the Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York.

According to D.S.A.’s [[Democratic Left]] of April 1 1999;

Recently, Congressional Representative Jerrold Nadler briefed D.S.A. activists from around the country on the state of the Social Security situation. According to Nadler, the Social Security “crisis” isn’t financial, it’s political”.

The rival Social Democrats USA have alleged that Nadler is an actual member of Democratic Socialists of America. S.D-U.S.A’s website history of the U.S. socialist movement confirms the known D.S.A, membership of former Congressmen Ron Dellums and Major Owens, former New York mayor David Dinkins and former AFL-CIO president John Sweeney. The Social Democrats also name Nadler as a D.S.A. member.

The Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee merges with the New American Movement, a socialist group that emerged from the New Left, to form the Democratic Socialists of America. To date, three members of the Democratic Socialists of America have served in the U.S. Congress: Ronald Dellums, Major Owens, and Jerry Nadler. Democratic Socialists of America member, David Dinkins, is elected mayor of New York City. John Sweeney, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, becomes president of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organization.

The list excludes another Congressional D.S.A. member, Danny Davis of Illinois. Nor does it include at least a dozen more who have ties to D.S.A., including one of the closest of all, John Conyers.

Nadler is a long time member of the D.S.A. created Congressional Progressive Caucus. He also runs on the ballot line of the D.S.A. infiltrated New York Working Families Party.

Despite its deliberately innocuous name D.S.A. is a Marxist organization, closely allied to the Communist Party and other radical organizations.

The organization openly believes in the abolition of the private ownership of the means of production. According to D.S.A. national political Committee member, Mark Green of Detroit;

What distinguishes socialists from other progressives is the theory of surplus value. According to Marx, the secret of surplus value is that workers are a source of more value than they receive in wages. The capitalist is able to capture surplus value through his ownership of the means of production, his right to purchase labor as a commodity, his control over the production process, and his ownership of the final product. Surplus value is the measure of capital’s exploitation of labor

Our goal as socialists is to abolish private ownership of the means of production.

Several D.S.A. members have connections to Cuba, while another former National Political Committee member Kurt Stand is currently serving a long prison sentence for spying for the then East Germany and Soviet Union.

If one of Mr Nadler’s New York constituents would like to write to him asking the question “are you now, or have you ever been, a member of Democratic Socialists of America”, I would be happy to either publish his reply, or publicize the lack of.

Equality is Never Equal

Equality is a sacred word in the modern American lexicon. It’s the politically correct positive to the negative of discrimination. There’s a philosophy known as Egalitarianism based upon a belief in human equality in all social, political, and economic affairs. This philosophy advocates the removal of all inequalities among people. Egalitarianism is one of the foundational principles of the Progressives currently controlling the government of the United States.

There’s one major flaw with this philosophy. It doesn’t reflect reality. No matter what anyone wants to believe, hopes to encourage or pretends to see people are not equal. There are the physical differences of size, shape, appearance, intelligence and temperament. There are also differences in family environment, economic situation, education, and location. There’s no natural way to eradicate these inherent differences. This is where the progressive philosophy kings seek to insert the coercive actions of government to level the playing field creating what they believe is a perfect environment for human activity. However, perfect equality is impossible to create, for in the artificial hothouse of government enforced equality there are still those who decide what equal is, and as the privileged commissars of the USSR taught us everyone is equal but some are more equal than others.

 

Founded in the fires of revolution against the tyranny of hereditary monarchs and privilege, the people of the United States sought to establish a nation unique in the world where everyone could work their way to the highest positions in a free society. Today the richest people in the country, the most celebrated in media and the most powerful in politics, bare witness that this system works. However, beginning at the end of the nineteenth century the Progressives began their Long March to power building upon the idea that government intervention, as opposed to the withdrawal of government control, was necessary to create, as opposed to allow, the equality of opportunity which has always been the key to America’s greatness.

To gain control, the Progressives changed the definition of equality from the opportunity to achieve to the absence of failure advocating governmental action to create a safety net. Unfortunately, while their plan isn’t based on the reality of human nature it must deal with the results of human nature. Many people, when they’re given a safety net turn it into a hammock and decide life isn’t a challenge it’s a vacation with the bill sent to someone else.

The first step the progressives identified as necessary to impose an unreal vision upon reality was education. The goal: expel God and positive views of American History to turn a nation founded upon inalienable rights endowed by a Creator into a secular Humanist commonwealth where government is the arbiter of all, and change our iron-clad Constitution into a Living Document. The press came next growing into a media monster ridiculing traditional values and extolling deviance as the new normal.

To protect people from the predatory practices of rapacious capitalism government, regulation became the Progressives’ tool of choice.

This is not hard people… We have been here before, when a Democrat promised to be all things to all people and pay for it from the public trough. Let’s be honest here… the utopia of communism sounds great to most people who believe that something for nothing actually exists on this planet.

However, no such thing exists. Everything costs something.

Federal freebies cost productive taxpayers money on the front end. But it costs the recipient their individual freedom and liberty in the end. Government dependents are NOT “free.” They are “enslaved” to their keeper.

Today’s Democrats do not seek to stimulate the private sector economy. Getting government out of the way is the only way to do that. Regulate and tax is the way to destroy what’s left of the private sector economy.

They do not seek to “free” the poor. They seek to enslave the poor, making them permanent federal dependents and thereby, reliable Democrat voters.

They do not seek to secure our borders, they seek more union employees and Democrat voters by way of amnesty for illegals and there is talk that Obama will issue amnesty by Executive Order, if need be.

They do not seek to win the war on terror abroad – they intend to bring that war to U.S. streets under their insane “tolerance” for the most intolerable things.

Obama has increased our public debt by 40% in less than two years and he wants to spend more. That spending has not avoided the inevitable day of reckoning – it has only kicked it down the road a few months while digging the hole deeper.

But the worst news is that unlike FDR’s financial disaster which drove the nation’s debt to 121.25% of GDP in 1946, but left America’s free-market economic tools necessary for producing our way out of that corner intact – the Obama administration is spending the nation even deeper in debt while systematically destroying the free-market economy needed to produce our way out of that corner.

In the last eighteen months, Obama has seized control of the following economic sectors…

• Auto Manufacturing
• Banking
• Investment
• Insurance
• Health Care
• Energy
• Mass Media

Obama is systematically eliminating the free-market private sector ability to produce our way out of the financial corner he is spending us into. They are “creating” more public sector union jobs. They cannot create even one private sector job, they can only destroy the private sector via regulation and taxation.

Public sector jobs are taxpayer funded, and thereby a drain on the private sector economy. Only private sector productivity can produce the nation out of debt. But Obama is shifting jobs from the private sector to the public sector, all of them under union bid only conditions. This too must end!

The original Progressivism, the Progressivism that arose in the 1880s and 1890s and flourished during the first two decades of the twentieth century, was marked by a paradox. On the one hand, it sought to democratize American politics, reforming American political institutions to make them more responsive to the will of the people. On the other hand, Progressives favored the creation of an administrative elite that would exercise substantial state power but without traditional forms of political accountability. It is one of the virtues of Progressive era that writers gave both opinions clear and emphatic expression. Like the original Progressivism, the new Progressivism, which arose in post-1960s politics and has been refined and taken to a new level by President Barack Obama, seeks to democratize American political institutions by making them more responsive to the will of the people. And like the original Progressivism, it has great confidence in the ability of elites to administer the state on the peoples behalf.

In contrast to the original Progressivism, the new Progressivism does not give clear expression to Progressivism’s awkward combination of egalitarianism and elitism. On the contrary, the new Progressivism strives to conceal Progressivism’s paradox–the new Progressivism’s academic wing has even developed a variety of theoretical and rhetorical approaches that conceal the paradox. Whereas the dependence on elites can be reconciled with self-government, this concealment has disquieting antidemocratic and illiberal implications. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition and a psychological understanding of the people concerned that a square is in fact a circle. They are mere words, and words can be molded until they clothe ideas in disguise.

Propaganda has only one object, to conquer the masses. Every means that furthers that aim is good; every means that hinders it is bad … You can make a man believe anything if you tell it to him in the right way … Nothing is easier than leading the people on a leash. I just hold up a dazzling campaign poster and they jump through it…

The people must begin to think as one unit, react as such, and put themselves at the disposal of the government wholeheartedly…To belabour the people so long until they succumb to us.

a. The communication must reach the audience ahead of competing propaganda.

a. They must evoke desired responses which the audience previously possesses

Axelrod’s Mother

Axelrod was born in New York in 1955 to leftist parents Joseph Axelrod and Myril Bennett Axelrod.

In the 1940s Myril Axelrod wrote for a left leaning magazine New York magazine, PM. though not officially a communist publication, several Marxists (including labour editor Leo Huberman) and Communist Party USA members worked on the paper.

Former Communist Eugene Lyons, writing in The Red Decade: The Stalinist Penetration of America, noted that PM’s staff included a former editor of the Daily Worker, former editor of The Communist, a leader of the Young Communist League USA, a Soviet government official and a former staff cartoonist for the Daily Worker, the official newspaper of the Communist Party USA.^[2]

PM’s Washington DC correspondent I.F. Stone was later identified as a Communist Party USA member and a Soviet intelligence agent.

One of PM’s writers, Earl Conrad, also wrote for the leftist magazine Negro Story, as did Frank Marshall Davis the Communist Party USA member who was later to mentor the young Barack Obama in Hawaii.

Mentored by Don Rose

David Axelrod’s own mentor was a well known Chicago journalist/political activist named Don Rose.^[3]

In his early years as a political consultant, Axelrod, following in the footsteps of his mentor, the political strategist Don Rose, carved out a reputation for himself as a skillful specialist working for local progressive candidates…says Rose. “I think he’s a principled, generally progressive guy…”

Axelrod first met Rose in the early 1970s while studying political science at the University of Chicago and working as a reporter on the Hyde Park Herald.

Around that time Rose edited and co-owned a small newspaper called the Hyde Park-Kenwood Voices. The paper tended to follow the Communist Party USA line – campaigning for example to abolish the House Committee on Un-American Activities. The Voice’s co-owner, the late David Canter had personal experience with the committee, being hauled before it and named as a Communist Party USA member in the late 1960s.

Canter and Don Rose took the young David Axelrod under their wing. They took it upon themselves to “mentor” and “educate…politically”, a the young journalist. Don Rose later wrote a reference letter for Axelrod that helped win him the internship at the Chicago Tribune which launched his career.

Don Rose writing to David Canter‘s son Marc Canter said:

“David Axelrod did not work for the Voices at any point. He was a reporter for the HP Herald while attending U of C, appearing on the scene first in 1975, just after the Voices folded–but he was familiar with our paper as a student before he got the Herald job. Your dad and i “mentored” and helped educate him politically in that capacity, which is perhaps why you may recall seeing him hanging around the house. I later wrote a reference letter for him that helped him win an internship at the Tribune, which was the next step in his journalism career.”

Around 1970 Don Rose was a leader of the a well known Communist Party USA front, the Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights.

The Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights executive director was Communist Party USA member Richard Criley. Other party members in leading positions included Abe Feinglass, Ernest DeMaio, Jack Spiegel, Jesse Prosten and Norman Roth.

Other radicals active in the organization included former Communist Party USA member Milt Cohen (later a founder of Chicago Democratic Socialists of America), Quentin Young, Timuel Black and Rabbi Arnold Jacob Wolf. The latter three all went on to join Democratic Socialists of America and to form close personal friendships with Barack Obama.
