Of course: Former Weather Underground radical convicted of felony murder now an adjunct professor at Columbia

April 2, 2013

I have little sympathy for Ward Churchill but it does feel strange that his sins are grounds for banishment from academia when Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, and now Kathy Boudin graduated from the Weathermen — and, in Boudin’s case, prison — to jobs in the ivory tower. Is Churchill’s real problem that he wasn’t militant enough? He talked a good game about how the U.S. had 9/11 coming but he never tried to blow anyone up to make the point. The same could be said of virtually any two-bit campus radical. Why hire him when you could hire someone made famous by their links to a group known for its willingness to kill for the cause?

Remember all of this the next time Chris Matthews or whoever airs a special tut-tutting Republicans for welcoming tea-party “radicals” into the fold.

Former Weather Underground radical Kathy Boudin — who spent 22 years in prison for an armored-car robbery that killed two cops and a Brinks guard — now holds a prestigious adjunct professorship at Columbia University’s School of Social Work, The Post has learned…

Boudin’s status of perp-turned-prof outraged the widow of one of her victims, Brinks guard and dad of three Peter Paige, who was gunned down by her accomplices from the Black Liberation Army on Oct. 20, 1981, in Rockland County.

Boudin acted as a getaway driver in the heist.

“She doesn’t deserve a job at all,” said Josephine Paige, 74, when told of Boudin’s posts. “She doesn’t deserve anything, nothing at all. I think she should be back in an institution.”…

Of the hundreds of students Boudin has taught, Yoshioka said, just three have expressed qualms about her criminal background, and only one “switched out” of a class because of those concerns.

I was just reading the part of Ayers’s Wikipedia bio that describes how he became a radical. Quote: “To stand still was to choose indifference. Indifference was the opposite of moral.” That’s a nice counterpoint to Columbia students shrugging off Boudin’s history. Incidentally, there’s another reason why the Weathermen honor roll may have gotten a little more leeway from liberal intellectuals than, say, Ward Churchill has: To varying degrees, they’re all children of privilege. Ayers’s father went on to become the head of one of Illinois’s biggest utilities; his friendship with the head of a major Chicago law firm later helped Dohrn land a job during her post-Weathermen phase. Boudin grew up in Manhattan, went to Bryn Mawr, and then wrangled a lighter sentence for herself then her accomplices in the Brinks job got thanks to help from one of her father’s law partners. These connections were their conduit back into polite liberal society (polite enough for Ayers to make the acquaintance of a future president) and made them “respectable” enough to employ at places like Columbia. Class warriors that they are, I wonder how much they enjoy the irony.

From The Blaze:

WHERE IS THE FORMER WEATHER UNDERGROUND RADICAL WHO SPENT 22 YEARS IN PRISON FOR ROBBERY THAT LEFT 2 COPS DEAD?

April 2, 2013

By Jason Howerton

Following in the footsteps of Weather Underground founder Bill Ayers, a domestic terrorist-turned respected academic thinker, former Weather Underground radical Kathy Boudin — who spent 22 years in prison for her involvement in an armored car robbery that left two cops and a Brinks guard dead — currently holds a prestigious adjunct professorship at Columbia University, the New York Post reports.

In addition to her new professorship at Columbia’s School of Social Work, Boudin, 69, also earned another academic achievement this year, being named the Sheinberg Scholar-in-Residence at NYU Law School. She reportedly gave a lecture on “the politics of parole and re-entry” at the university last month.

As the New York Post reports in a story headlined “Outrage 101: Radical jailed in slay now Columbia prof,” Boudin was paroled in 2003 after acting as the getaway driver in the deadly $1.6 million heist. Less than 10 years later she found herself mingling among the nation’s academic elite at Columbia University.

“Boudin’s status of perp-turned-prof outraged the widow of one of her victims, Brinks guard and dad of three Peter Paige, who was gunned down by her accomplices from the Black Liberation Army on Oct. 20, 1981, in Rockland County,” the New York Post reports.

“She doesn’t deserve a job at all,” Josephine Paige, 74, told the Post. “She doesn’t deserve anything, nothing at all. I think she should be back in an institution.”

The New York Post has the exclusive on this story:

John Hanchar, the nephew of another victim of the robbery, Nyack Police Officer Edward O’Grady, said that while Boudin “has a right to do whatever she wants . . . I just hope the people that she’s lecturing are smart enough to question why [she felt] like killing people is an acceptable choice to forward their goals.”

“It’s easy to forget that violence is never the answer. Nine children grew up without their dads because of her actions,” said Hanchar, whose uncle O’Grady was shot with automatic weapons

Boudin did not respond to a request for comment.

[...]

One Friday, a criminal-justice conference at the school will feature keynote address by Angela Davis, another infamous radical, and later this month Boudin is scheduled to speak at Columbia Law School’s conference on child and family advocacy.

Boudin reportedly teaches students about the issues facing convicts and their families when a criminal is released from prison — a topic she is well versed in.

This Is Columbia University

by David Horowitz

April 3, 2013

This article first appeared at National Review Online.

People who ask how it is possible that a convicted killer — a participant in a failed plot to blow up a social dance attended by 18-year-old draftees and their dates; a murderess who abetted the cold-blooded massacre of three law-enforcement officers, including the first African-American on the Nyack police force; a woman whose actions left nine children fatherless and who has shown no genuine remorse for that — should be hired as an adjunct professor at an elite school like Columbia University haven’t been paying attention to what’s happened to our educational system from kindergarten to the university level, which has long been under the academic thumb of a Left that is comfortable supporting Islamic supremacists and anti-American terrorists both at home and abroad. After all, it was at Columbia that, in the wake of 9/11, Professor Nicholas De Genova told 3,000 Columbia protesters against America’s war on terror that he wished for “a million Mogadishus” and that a peaceful world would have no place for America.

The prestige of Columbia derives from its scientific and professional divisions (Social Work and Education excepted), in which traditional standards drawn from the Enlightenment and the scientific revolution and including two sides to controversial questions are still observed. Over the past several decades, the liberal-arts divisions and the aforementioned professional schools have reverted to their religious origins, except that the doctrines being rammed down students’ throats without the benefit of opposing views are Marxist rather than Christian.

Conservatives have been lame in opposing this ominous development. They have abdicated responsibility at the trustee level, they have had little or nothing to say about it at the policy level, and they have been inattentive to it at the political level, despite the fact that 85 percent of college students attend state universities whose curricula and liberal-arts faculties are as monolithic, intellectually deficient, and politically perverse as Columbia’s. For example, a course at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is described in the official catalogue in these exact words: “The goal of this seminar is to learn how to organize a revolution.” The course description goes on to explain that this would be an anti-capitalist revolution. Kathy Boudin would feel right at home there. In fact, her colleagues Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, who organized the terrorist Weather Underground in which Kathy Boudin was a soldier, were not adjunct faculty members like Boudin but full-fledged professors (at Northwestern and the University of Illinois). Ayers, a Columbia graduate, is an iconic figure at Columbia’s Teachers College (a third professional school at Columbia that is an ongoing disgrace) and has edited its series of classroom guides on how to use subjects like Mathematics to teach “social justice” — which, as Ayers understands and articulates it, is indistinguishable from the principles of the Communist gulags that the Cold War disposed of.

But of course it is terribly outré to mention all this, and those of us who do are marginalized not only by the academic profession but by the editorial supporters of political bomb throwers at institutions that function as the arbiters of the intellectual culture — such as the New York Times, which played an active role in securing Boudin’s undeserved release from a federal prison.

Kathy Boudin’s son is Chesa Boudin

From Keywiki.org

Chesa Boudin , born August 1980, is the son of Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, former Weather Underground terrorist leaders who were jailed after participating in the attempted robbery of a Brink’s armored car in 1981; two police officers and a guard died in the gunfire. He was raised by Weather Underground leaders Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

Chesa Boudin was a toddler when the Brink’s job went awry.

Chesa Boudin’s maternal grandfather was New York communist attorney, Leonard Boudin.

Supporting Bolivian revolution

In September 2007 a statement was circulated by the blog Bolivia Rising in support of the revolutionary government of Bolivia;[3]

The democratically elected government of Bolivia’s first indigenous president Evo Morales Ayma, which is heading a process of democratic change, is Washington’s immediate target in Latin America today. Bolivia is in Washington’s sight, not only because it is viewed as the weakest link of the growing axis of hope in the region, but because of its role as a catalyst for inspiring the struggles of indigenous peoples, regionally and internationally, for real social justice…
Now is the time for all intellectuals, union militants, solidarity activists, political parties and progressive minded individuals who believe in real justice and equality to raise their voices in defense of the Bolivian government and its people. No to US interference in Bolivia!

Mr. Boudin’s parents are Katherine Boudin and David Gilbert, who became infamous in the 1970’s as members of the radical group the Weathermen. In 1981, they were convicted for taking part in the Brink’s robbery, during which two police officers and a guard were killed. Chesa was raised by Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, Weathermen colleagues of his parents, in Chicago. But his family connection remains strong: Mr. Boudin’s parents write to him almost every day and, since they’re permitted to make collect calls from prison, Mr. Boudin reprogrammed his Yale dormitory phone to override a campus-wide block on receiving collect calls, according to The Times.

Terrorist Bill Ayers: From Bombs to Obama

April 3, 2013

by Bosch Fawstin

Terrorist Bill Ayers, who likes to call himself professor these days, is a long-time friend of Barack Benghazi Obama. If this is news to you, blame the Obamedia, who’ve done all they can to cover up this connection. If there wasone thing that should have derailed Obama’s path to high office, it should have been his long-time friendship with the unrepentant terrorist. Clearly, the media didn’t give a damn about the implications of that friendship.

Back in the 2008 election, the media did all they could to cover up the Obama-Ayers connection, while non-leftist journalists and news sources did all they could to cover it. It was important to the American voter to know that the would-be president was friends with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers. They were successful enough that Obama had to answer a question or two about it. And, as usual, he lied. He said that Ayers was just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood.” The truth is that Obama had his political coming-out party at the terrorist’s house. Obama praised a book by the terrorist, who used it as a blurb. They ran a leftist indoctrination school together in Chicago for five years. And there is the likelihood that Obama had his terrorist friend write his first “memoir,” “Dreams From My [Muslim/Communist] Father.”

I think Ayers saw Obama as a political weapon that he could use to hurt America in ways he himself could never do before as a terrorist. Ayers probably felt that Obama could do FAR more damage within the system than his own bombs ever could. Unlike Ayers, Obama has been able to make his destructive ideas appear semi-reasonable by his affected demeanor, especially because he is a fundamentally truth-less man who will say absolutely anything to get what he wants, unlike some leftists who are sometimes honest about their true plans, like Ayers. So Ayers also knew that he had the sneakiest snake he could find in Obama, and he clearly saw him as a weapon, a weapon he would use to do great damage to the country he hates.

The Daily Beast’s Disgraceful Interview With Bill Ayers

April 4, 2013

By David Horowitz

Below is an email that David Horowitz sent to the editor of The Daily Beast in response to their recent interview with Bill Ayers.

When you interview a shallow, murderous liar like Billy Ayers, you should assign someone who is at least familiar with the basic facts. The Weather Underground was created in 1969, not after the Townhouse explosion which took place in 1970. The Underground was created with a formal “Declaration of War” against “Amerikka. By their own account at the time (not in retrospect of course) Ayers and his friends were intending to start a race war in America, which is why they idolized Charles Manson. Their first political act was to destroy SDS (which they called “Offing the pig”). Not surprisingly, they had virtually no support in the anti-war left. Far from being innocent of attempting to kill others (you actually let Ayers imply that he had nothing to do with his friend Kathy Boudin’s plan to kill teenagers at Fort Dix), Ayers and his wife incited people to conduct a “war” against their own country, and famously urged others to “kill your parents.” They are still being investigated for the cold case murder of a policeman in Los Angeles who was killed by a Weatherman bomb.

Ayers tries to wrap the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War around his crimes to exculpate himself and your fact challenged interviewer lets him do it. But Ayers was conducting bombing runs long after American troops were withdrawn from Vietnam , and when Jimmy Carter was president, he and his wife provided material aid to their friend Kathy Boudin to carry out a bank robbery which left nine children without fathers. Ayers has no regrets about launching a war that left his former lover and two other of his comrades and friends dead, and that ended pathetically when it became apparent even to them that their brand of violent extremism had completely marginalized them not just in the American mainstream but in the left itself.
