Must Read! “Obama’s 2nd-term Assault on U.S. Military”. The Choice is Real this November: Americanism vs. Communism

From Trevor Loudon:

Must Read! “Obama’s 2nd-term Assault on U.S. Military”

August 24, 2012

Barack Obama, Dimitri Medvedev, Seoul, South Korea

Most American’s fail to realize that the number one goal of both the international and American left, is the destruction of the US military – to be followed by the destruction, physically or politically, of the United States itself.

President Barack Obama, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, the Center for American Progress and the Institute for Policy Studies are all working to this end.

Neither Obama, nor Panetta would have a prayer of passing an FBI security check to clean the toilets of any US military base.

The Center for American progress is infiltrated by Marxists and the Institute for Policy Studies is notorious for its communist and foreign intelligence connections.

If they succeed in gutting US military preparedness, it will be end of liberty, not just in the United States – but globally, as Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran and North Korea will carve up the planet among themselves.

There will be nowhere left to run.

Below is an excellent exposure of this threat from Aaron Klein of World Net Daily:

During a time of escalating world tensions, it is generally considered unwise to reduce U.S. military preparedness.

With Iran racing toward nuclear-weapons capability, Syria on the brink of all-out civil war and Russia rebuilding its Cold War-era bases in the Middle East, now would be the time for any president to push for increased funding for U.S. forces.

Instead President Obama’s plans for military cuts, should he win a second term, make his drastic first-term defense slashes – about the only area in which he’s reduced government spending – look like child’s play.

A handful of key progressive organizations behind much of Obama’s first-term agenda have now submitted even more radical proposals to the White House to “transform” the U.S. military.

If these progressive groups have their way, U.S. armed forces will be reduced to a social work-style organization designed to combat “global warming,” fight global poverty, remedy “injustice,” bolster the United Nations and increase “peacekeeping” forces worldwide. The massive, second-term slashes to the military budget are to be used, shockingly, to invest in a defense posture based on “sustainable energy” and fighting worldwide climate change. There is also a plan to wrest control of the military budget from Congress.

This progressive wish list matters because Obama’s first-term agenda did not materialize out of thin air. The president’s signature policies – including his first-term defense cutbacks, the $800 billion “stimulus” and even Obamacare – were crafted over years by the same major progressive organizations and activists now hard at work planning Obama’s second-term strategy on jobs, wages, health care, immigration, electoral “reform” – and national defense.

Two of the progressive think tanks – the Center for American Progress, or CAP, and the Institute for Policy Studies, or IPS – have produced a 96-page blueprint called “A Report of the Task Force on a Unified Security Budget for the United States” (or 2012 Unified Security Budget). Previous recommendations from the CAP-IPS annual Unified Security Budget have been adopted by the Obama administration.

CAP – which is run by John Podesta, a former aide to Bill Clinton and co-chairman of President Obama’s 2008 White House transition team – has had such heavy influence on the crafting of White House policy that Time magazine dubbed it the “idea factory” of the Obama administration.

In fact, the 2011 Unified Security Budget openly boasts that the group’s policy recommendations from its recent defense papers were utilized by Obama’s Sustainable Defense Taskforce, which has notoriously recommended $1 trillion in cuts over 10 years.

The 2012 USB opposes the use of forces on the ground to secure or influence the longer-term strategic position of other nations. It recommends scaling back all U.S. ground forces by 20 percent; reducing the Navy’s surface fleet by 20 percent – including two carriers and carrier combat air wings; and reducing the Air Force by two combat air wings. At the same time, it would cut standing peacetime overseas deployments in Europe and East Asia by up to 50,000 troops.

The Unified Security Budget authors strongly argue for the reduction of the U.S. nuclear arsenal to no more than 292 deployed nuclear weapons and the complete elimination of the Trident II nuclear missile. Obama has already initiated this process by signing a deal with Russia in April 2010 reducing stocks of weapons-grade plutonium.

The accord with Russia was signed at a nuclear summit in Washington arranged by Obama at which leaders of 47 nations (not including Iran or North Korea, the two biggest nuclear proliferators) committed to reducing the world’s nuclear stockpiles. One week earlier, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Obama signed the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, committing both countries to reducing their deployed nuclear arsenals.

Obama had broadly proclaimed his disarmament intentions during a 2007 campaign speech.

“Here’s what I’ll say as president: America seeks a world in which there are no nuclear weapons,” he said.

By 2010, as president, he argued, “We need to change our nuclear policy and our posture, which is still focused on deterring the Soviet Union – a country that doesn’t exist.”

The joint CAP and IPS report, meanwhile, recommends the U.S. cease all further development of missile defenses. The report goes through a list of current missile defense programs, including Ground-based Midcourse Defense, Airborne Laser and Kinetic Energy Interceptors– pushing for all programs to be cut.

The military’s vital Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation program is to be cut by $10 billion across the board.

Next on the chopping block: the complete cancellation of the second SSN-744 Virginia Class submarine. Similarly targeted for cancellation are the V-22 Osprey helicopter and the Navy and Marine Corps versions of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

The 2012 Unified report does advocate a massive increase in one area – any spending that funds “alternative energy” or that focuses Defense Department resources on combating “climate change as a security threat.” The report’s authors recommend investing “the lion’s share” of the few allotted military increases in addressing the “threat” of so-called climate change. The progressive groups are also pushing Obama to take billions of dollars from the U.S. military and instead use the funds for a “green stimulus.”

These groups envision the military as a tool to fight so-called global warming. In 2011, the IPS released a 40-page CAP-endorsed report titled “The Green Dividend,” a term the IPS defines as “a major shift of resources from the military budget to sustainable energy.”

The IPS paper identifies the Pentagon as the “largest institutional energy user – and greenhouse gas emitter – on the planet,” arguing that if it undertook a “crash program” to convert to renewable energy sources and clean vehicles, it could make a significant impact on global emissions.

The IPS calls on the Pentagon to contribute to a green world “by simply getting out of the way, by handing over unneeded military installations to be converted into green job incubators.”

For now, congressional oversight serves as a check to some of Obama’s most drastic calls for defense reductions. Some would even give Congress more power in this realm. But the progressive groups have concocted a plan to wrest budgetary control from Congress altogether – where it is vested by the U.S. Constitution – and instead place the military’s purse strings in the hands of an “independent panel.”

Would American voters support Obama if they knew what he has in store should he win a second term?

Apparently the president himself doesn’t think so. As he told Russian Prime Minister Medvedev when he thought no one was listening: “Tell Vladimir (Putin) after I’m re-elected I’ll have more flexibility.”

Those few words from Obama were the single most important statement of his Presidency.

“Why doth treason never prosper?

Because when treason prospers, none dare call it treason.”

Why the Senate Should Reject the New START

=======================

By Zbigniew Mazurak

December 8, 2010

The new START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) currently under consideration by Congress is irredeemably flawed. Instead of accepting the “tax cuts for START” deal, Republican senators should reject the treaty for several reasons.

Firstly, the treaty will severely reduce America’s nuclear stockpile (to just 1,550 warheads, down from 5,113) and the number of delivery systems (to no more than 700 deployed systems and 800 in total) — i.e. to wholly insufficient levels. Vice Chairman of the JCS Gen. Cartwright (a former leader of the Strategic Command) says that the minimum number of delivery systems needed is 860. The current number on the American side is 883 (336 Trident-II SLBMs, 450 ICBMs, and 97 nuclear-capable bombers).

START will gut the U.S. military by reducing the arsenal of nuclear weapons and delivery systems to insufficient levels because that is exactly its point. The Russians have demanded that the American arsenal be reduced to the size of the Russian arsenal projected for the 2010s. Currently, it is agreed that Russia has fewer delivery systems subject to START provisions than the U.S.: 369 ICBMs, 113 (89+24) bombers, and a few hundred SLBMs. Russia’s 177 (84+93) Tu-22M intercontinental bombers do not count, even though most could easily have refueling equipment installed (and some already have it).

The treaty is clearly designed to bring the U.S. strategic arsenal down to the sorry state of the Russians’. And Russia cannot afford to maintain its arsenal at its present size, let alone greatly increase it, as Putin has threatened to do.

Additionally, the treaty has unreliable, untrustworthy verification procedures, which will make it impossible for the U.S. to check that the Russians are complying. Moscow has violated SALT-I, SALT-II, and START-I, so there is no reason to believe that it will voluntarily comply with the new treaty. Nor does the new START address Russia’s huge advantage in tactical nuclear weapons, which could be used against American troops deployed abroad.

But the treaty does address an issue it should not interfere with: missile defense. On Moscow’s demand, the following clauses have been added to the treaty:

An acknowledgment of a link between strategic offensive weapons and missile defense. This implies that American missile defense systems must be limited and reduced lest they undermine Russia’s nuclear deterrent (Paragraph 9 of the Preamble).

A ban on the usage of ex-ICBM siloes for missile interceptor siloes, as well as a ban on using ex-ICBM launchers as missile interceptor launchers, and vice-versa (Article V).

A provision creating a Bilateral Consultative Commission authorized to impose further restrictions on America’s missile defense.

Furthermore, Russia has stated that it will withdraw from the treaty if the U.S. takes any steps to improve its missile defense — whether qualitatively or quantitatively. This raises the question: if Obama is really committed to missile defense (as he claims), why is he prodding the Senate to ratify a treaty that Russia will certainly withdraw from if Obama does build up America’s missile defense? The answer: Obama doesn’t really intend to improve America’s missile shield. We know this because for years, Obama has been ideologically opposed to missile defense, speaking out against it and surrendering the European component of the Bush-planned system to Russia. And in 1983, he wrote an article protesting Reagan’s defense policies, including the SDI, and endorsing pacifist student groups.

Obama, Gates, and Clinton are promoting the treaty as a panacea to nuclear proliferation. But the treaty will not convince, legally oblige, or technically cause China, North Korea, or Pakistan to reduce (let alone eliminate) their nuclear and delivery system arsenals. Nor will it convince Iran to end its nuclear weapons program. Quite the contrary — it will only encourage all of them to build up their arsenals.

Supporters of the treaty claim that it will “boost America’s credibility” on nonproliferation and thus convince other countries to cease pursuing nuclear weapons, as well as convince other actors to support the U.S. against proliferator countries such as Iran and North Korea. Do these naïve people really believe that America’s credibility counts for anything to Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, and China? It doesn’t. “Credibility on nonproliferation” means nothing to the dictators ruling those countries.

The treaty would be a huge reward to a dictatorship which has been uncooperative — indeed, hostile — towards the U.S. through the past decade. Under Putin, Moscow has been hugging, aiding, and abetting proliferating, terrorist-supporting regimes in Tehran and Pyongyang. The Russians have built a nuclear reactor in Iran over American objections and has delivered nuclear fuel to it. They have repeatedly shielded Iran and North Korea from the UNSC, agreeing only to mild, symbolic, useless sanctions. They have sold tons of weapons to Venezuela, enabling Chávez to stir up trouble on America’s own turf. They (according to General Baluyevski) have threatened a preemptive nuclear attack against the West. In 2007, Putin threatened to aim Russian missiles at Western Europe if the U.S. deployed missile defense systems in Central Europe. In 2008, when Poland allowed the U.S. to deploy such systems on its soil, Russia threatened a preemptive nuclear attack against Poland.

Obama’s 1983 College Magazine Article

Despite Barack Obama’s sympathetic portrayal, his article seemed to question the popular goal of freezing nuclear arms at current levels — rather than cutting arsenals, the topic of his seminar paper. Mr. Obama wondered if the freeze movement “stems from young people’s penchant for the latest ‘happenings’” and called its focus narrow. He railed against discussions of “first versus second strike capabilities” that “suit the military-industrial interests” with their “billion dollar erector sets” and agitated for the elimination of global arsenals holding tens of thousands of deadly warheads.

What clearly excited him was the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, which would end the testing and development of new weapons, and thus, in the minds of arms controllers, end the nuclear arms race. The Reagan administration vehemently opposed the treaty. Paraphrasing Mr. Bigelow’s views, Mr. Obama said the United States should initiate the ban “as a powerful first step towards a nuclear free world.” That phrase would reemerge decades later.

Pictures that ran with the publication in March 1983 framed the era: Student protestors holding an antiwar rally in front of Butler Library. Among the signs: “No Draft, No War!!”

Barack Obama’s journalistic voice was edgy with disdain for what he called “the relentless, often silent spread of militarism in the country” amid “the growing threat of war.” The two groups, he wrote, “visualizing the possibilities of destruction and grasping the tendencies of distorted national priorities, are throwing their weight into shifting America off the dead-end track.”

In closing, he decried the “the twisted logic of which we are a part today” and praised student efforts to realize “the possibility of a decent world.”

Obama, Marilyn Katz and the 2002 Protest Against War in Iraq:

Head of Security for Students for a Democratic Society  (S.D.S.)

Marilyn Katz is a Chicago public relations consultant and political operative, who has known David Axelrod for 30 years.  Katz claims it was she who  introduced Obama to the “activist network” in Chicago.

Katz met William Ayers through SDS and defended him after his association with Obama surfaced in the 2008 Presidential Campaign.  She organized Vietnam War protests through Students for a Democratic Society (SDS).   Katz is a petite woman who was, improbably, the head of security for S.D.S. at the 1968 Democratic Convention.  She led young protesters outside the convention, including throwing nails in the street to thwart police officers.

In Recalling Her 1960’s Activism, Katz Has Said She Was For “Sexual Freedom And A Democratic Socialist Paradise.”

Obama’s Radical Delegate

Katz wasn’t just an aggrieved foot soldier in the anti-war movement. She was the head of security for the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), a hardcore leftist cabal from which Ayers’ militant Weathermen organization splintered away. As the SDS security comrade-in-chief, Katz was intimately familiar with the group’s extreme tactics, which were employed repeatedly in clashes with authorities. Four decades later, Katz has traded in her guerilla nails for manicured nails, and is actively working to elect Barack Obama president.

To be clear, Katz never graduated to the bombs and bullets approach of Ayers, Inc. She also seems to have grown up a bit since her SDS glory days and has cultivated a political consulting career in Obama’s hometown. Katz has not, however, abandoned her left-wing ideology. She was one of the principal organizers of a now-famous 2002 antiwar rally at which Barack Obama followed through on the “most gut-wrenching decision” of his entire life by publicly warning against Iraq’s liberation. Katz has since described the event as Obama’s “coming out…as a public speaker.” This, of course, is not to be confused with his original political coming out party at the Ayers residence in the mid 1990s.

Ever since Obama decided to run for president, he’s been doing his very best to dismiss, deny, and obfuscate his longtime relationship with Ayers and Dohrn. After all, mainstream politicians don’t often have close working relationships, let alone friendships, with people who once declared war on the United States government. Katz, on the other hand, appears to have been welcomed into the Obama presidential campaign with open arms. She serves on his national finance committee, she is listed as a fundraising “bundler” on his website, she has hosted fundraisers for him, and she has personally donated thousands of dollars to the cause. Katz also traveled to Denver as part of the Illinois delegation last week, serving as a member of the credentials committee.

There are so many objectionable figures in Obama’s social milieu, new revelations about yet another garden variety radical may elicit shrugs at this point. How have we arrived at such a place? His supporters have made it clear that his close ties to unrepentant terrorists — unrepentant terrorists — are no big deal.  In fact, those who raise concerns about the Obama-Ayers nexus are labeled vicious neo-swiftboaters. So perhaps it follows that someone who preferred lobbing guerilla nails at police over planting pipe bombs in federal buildings would be integrated into Obama’s official campaign apparatus without so much as a second look. Maybe her slot on the national finance committee was a long-delayed reward for her admirable show of restraint.

When Ayers first became a political liability for Obama, the Chicago Sun-Times ran a story entitled, “Who is Bill Ayers?” In case any readers were foolish enough to think the Ayers connection was a big deal, a voice of reason was quoted to set them straight. “What Bill Ayers…did forty years ago has nothing to do with” Obama’s presidential run. The source went on to detail Ayers’ wonderful work in the field of public education. Who was this great moral authority? Why, Marilyn Katz, of course — identified as a “political strategist” and a former member of the “peaceful” Students for a Democratic Society.

Leave it to the mainstream media to quote Ms. Guerilla Nails declaring that Mr. Wish-I-had-done-more’s bombings should be irrelevant, while adding that he’s really a swell guy these days. How reassuring!

Obama’s Youth Shaped His Nuclear-Free Vision

July 4, 2009

In the depths of the cold war, in 1983, a senior at Columbia University wrote in a campus newsmagazine, Sundial, about the vision of “a nuclear free world.” He railed against discussions of “first- versus second-strike capabilities” that “suit the military-industrial interests” with their “billion-dollar erector sets,” and agitated for the elimination of global arsenals holding tens of thousands of deadly warheads.

Twenty-six years later, the author (Obama), in his new job as president of the United States, has begun pushing for new global rules, treaties and alliances that he insists can establish a nuclear-free world.

“I’m not naïve,” President Obama told a cheering throng in Prague this spring. “This goal will not be reached quickly — perhaps not in my lifetime. It will take patience and persistence.”

Yet no previous American president has set out a step-by-step agenda for the eventual elimination of nuclear arms. Mr. Obama is starting relatively small, using a visit to Russia that starts Monday to advance an intense negotiation, with a treaty deadline of the year’s end, to reduce the arsenals of the nuclear superpowers to roughly 1,500 warheads each, from about 2,200. In an interview on Saturday, Mr. Obama, conscious of his critics, stressed that “I’ve made clear that we will retain our deterrent capacity as long as there is a country with nuclear weapons.”

But reducing arsenals, he insisted, would be the first step toward giving the United States and a growing body of allies the power to remake the nuclear world. Among the goals: halting weapons programs in North Korea and Iran, discouraging states from abandoning the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and ending global production of fuel for nuclear arms, a step sure to upset Pakistan, India and Israel.
