Far Left New Groups: American Progressive Caucus Foundation AND Rebuild and Renew America NOW (aka Unity’09)

Talk about a facetious statement: Read the words carefully……Then draw your own conclusions:
The American Progressive Caucus Policy Foundation (APCPF) is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization.
Our mission is to bring together the collective wisdom of progressives inside and outside of Congress to promote peace and global security, energy independence, environmental sustainability, human rights, civil liberties and the health and economic well-being of us all.
We will serve as a communications, fact finding, research and education center for progressive leaders and other public policy-makers, issue advocates, the media, and the general public inside and outside of Congress. We welcome your support.

My note here is: HOW CAN YOU BE NON-PARTISAN when you ADMIT you are working with progressive leaders inside and outside OF CONGRESS AND you have TWO Congressional Representatives (Lee and Woosley) on your Board Of Directors?

And take a LOOK at the Board of DIRECTORS:

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors includes the   Honorable Representatives Barbara Lee and Lynn Woolsey,   Bob Borosage, Conrad Martin, Stephen Shaff, Laura Kalick, John Cavanagh, Katrina Vanden Heuvel, Bill Fletcher, Joel Barkin, Joan Blades, Wes Boyd, Julie Bergman-Sender, Amy Isaacs,
Larry Mishel and Lisa Hasegawa.

The Progressive Promise Agenda was first unveiled in June, 2005, by Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) Members as follows:
1. A different national security strategy that uses diplomacy and conflict mediation and goes beyond over-reliance upon using military force to protect U.S. national security and combat terrorism;
2. Reducing poverty and promoting economic fairness beyond raising the minimum wage;
3. Election reform beyond voter verifiable paper trails to ensuring the voting rights of all Americans and voluntary public financing; and
4, Energy independence beyond repealing tax breaks for oil and gas companies to curb reliance upon imported oil from the Middle East and reduce global warming.

Previously she was the Director of the Real Security Initiative at the White House Project, a teacher at Stanford University’s Center on Conflict and Negotiation and Senior Associate at the Henry L. The NEWEST FAR LEFT GROUP ORGANIZATION: From Discover The Networks site:

On March 4, 2009, the leaders of several leftist organizations and unions called a press conference to announce the formation of a new politically-oriented coalition, “Rebuild and Renew America Now” (RRAN), alternately known as “Unity ’09.” Consisting of more than 40 national groups mutually dedicated to facilitating the passage of “President Obama’s historic budget” (a $3.55 trillion budget for fiscal year 2010), RRAN’s roots could be traced back to late 2008 — when such organizations as the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Council of La Raza, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the Sierra Club, Media Matters for America, and Health Care for America Now first collaborated to plan its creation and development.

The March 4th press conference featured statements by Alan Charney, Program Director for USAction; Chuck Loveless, Legislative Director of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME); Khalid Pitts, Director of Political Accountability for the Service Employees International Union; Brad Woodhouse, President of Americans United for Change; Bertha Lewis, CEO and Chief Organizer of ACORN; Anna Aurilio, Director of Environment America; Tiernan Sittenfeld, Legislative Director for the League of Conservation Voters; Nancy Duff Campbell, Co-President of the National Women’s Law Center; and Dennis Van Roekel, President of the National Education Association Spearheaded by MoveOn.org, the fledgling RRAN issued a statement hailing “President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2010 budget” as a “visionary blueprint that turns away from the failed economic policies of the past and seeks to invest in our future” by means of “major investments in health care reform, education, and clean energy, while restoring fairness to our tax system and reducing military expenditures over time in a responsible manner.” The RRAN statement predicted that the foregoing priorities, if enacted, would: “turn back the harsh trend of rising poverty, unemployment, hunger and homelessness”; “expan[d] health care coverage”; “mak[e] college more affordable”; “suppor[t] the financial and nutritional needs of low income families”; “expan[d] affordable housing”; “inves[t] in a far-reaching policy that will develop clean sources of energy and protect the planet by reducing global warming pollution”; and “generate good jobs to rebuild our middle class.”
The RRAN membership roll also included many local and regional groups, as well as the state chapters of such leftist stalwarts as Code Pink, Citizen Action, Amnesty International, Public Citizen, and Veterans For Peace
RRAN focuses its attention chiefly on state-level, rather than national-level, initiatives aimed at influencing public opinion. The longtime activist Heather Booth oversees the coalition from the offices of USAction. Another key RRAN staffer is former Obama campaign aide Aaron Pickrell.  to provide leftist activists with a consistent set of political talking points that can be used to discredit Republicans and critics of President Obama’s policies generally.
RRAN serves as “the field organizing complement” to Progressive Media, an entity launched in February 2009
By the end of March 2009, RRAN’s membership had grown to include more than 100 national member organizations, among them being: ACORN, Alliance for Justice, the American Friends Service Committee, the American Progressive Caucus Policy Foundation, Campaign for America’s Future, Campus Progress Action, the Center for American Progress Action Fund, the Center for Community Change, the Children’s Defense Fund Cities for Progress (a project of the Institute for Policy Studies), Defenders of Wildlife, Earthjustice, the Environmental Defense Fund, Greenpeace, the League of Conservation Voters, the MoveOn Action Fund, the National Priorities Project, the National Women’s Law Center, the National Education Association, Pax Christi USA, People For the American Way, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the Service Employees International Union, the Sierra Club, Sojourners, the Wilderness Society, TrueMajority, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the United States Student Association, U.S. Public Interest Research Group, USAction, Women’s Action for New Directions, the World Wildlife Fund, and the YWCA USA
Each of those organizations paid $25,000 to become an RRAN member
A key funder of RRAN and many of its constituent groups is the billionaire financier of the left, George Soros.

I must have stirred the “Left”…..read comments below.

For those of you that don’t know Carl Davidson:

From: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=2322

As a college student in the 1960s, Davidson was a national secretary of Students of a Democratic Society and a national leader of the anti-Vietnam War movement. He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Penn State University and later found employment as a philosophy instructor at the University of Nebraska, also in the 1960s.

Davidson and Tom Hayden take credit for having launched in 1969 the “Venceremos Brigades,” which covertly transported hundreds of young Americans to Cuba to help harvest sugar cane and interact with Havana’s communist revolutionary leadership. (The Brigades were organized by Fidel Castro‘s Cuban intelligence agency, which trained “brigadistas” in guerrilla warfare techniques, including the use of arms and explosives.)

Many years later, Davidson would reflect on his SDS days when he, along with Dave Dellinger and Tom Hayden, had taken advantage of an opportunity to converse at length with President Castro. Said Davidson: “He [Castro] is a remarkable man, with a photographic memory, wide knowledge and keen insights…. We should all wish Fidel and Cuba well, and double our voices against the blockcade.”

In 1988 Davidson founded Networking for Democracy (NFD), an initiative that teaches computer skills and radical politics to Chicago-area teenagers. The NFD program encourages students to engage in “mass action” aimed at “tearing down the old structures of race and class privilege” in the U.S. “and around the world.”

In 1992 Davidson became a leader of the newly formed Committees of Correspondence, a Marxist coalition of former Maoists, Trotskyists, and Communist Party USA members. The organization has since changed its name to the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, where Davidson remains a prominent figure.

In the mid-1990s Davidson was a major player in the Chicago branch of the New Party, a Marxist political coalition whose objective was to endorse and elect leftist public officials. Most New Party members hailed from the Committees of Correspondence (the Marxist coalition cited in the preceding paragraph), the Democratic Socialists of America, and the militant leftist organization ACORN. Davidson first met Barack Obama through the New Party, which endorsed the latter in his run for the Illinois state senate in 1996. Obama had actively sought this endorsement, and he used a number of New Party volunteers as campaign workers.

Davidson quickly became one of Obama’s most ardent political supporters. He helped organize a large 2002 rally where Obama first established himself as an eloquent anti-war spokesman.

  1. Nonpartisan does not mean anti-partisan. The Nonpartisan Leagues that held power in many Midwestern states included Dems, GOP, Independents and Socialists in their leadership and ranks.

And if you think this batch of beltway left-liberals is ‘far left,’ then the real left and and the real ultraleft doesn’t even register on your radar.

    Response from Romanticpoet:

Morning Carl! I knew you would be here at some point.

Your buds at cc-ds.org and USSEN.org are true far left.

However with the Democratic Socialists of America basically sponsoring the Congressional Progressive Caucus of our current Congress one wonders what part of the “Left” they represent.

For progressive grass roots to call for the pressure to be put on Blue Dog Democrats; again I wonder where the likes of Lee and Woosley place themselves.

Heather Booth is part of the Midwest Academy that trains social agitators in the likes of Alinsky.

Frances Piven is of the Cloward-Piven strategy that incorporates strategies to collapse Capitalism and usher in Socialism.

Representative Wexler, Senator Bernie Sanders, Tom Daschle and Howard Dean are “buds” of the European Socialist Party.

Carol Browner was a member( possibly still is, but hidden) of the International Socialist Party.

Van Jones is another ones with ties to revolutionaries:

The one that will be part of the “Green Energy” platform of Obama’s Administration.

Progressives for Obama……include Tom Hayden of the SDS fame. Bill Fletcher, Katherine VanHuevel (The Nation), etc. are pushing “Progressives closer to Far Left agendas all in the name of “Social Justice”……http://progressivesforobama.blogspot.com/ Seems you like to post there a lot Carl…..

Just look at the names included in the coalition of “Progressives” at Renew and Rebuild America NOW.
Included in that list is: American Progressive Caucus Policy
This group is the ONE I spoke about in the beginning of my blog……

You may want to reference these two sites they resources that connect Obama to several activists/communists/socialists, etc.:
