Just twenty or so years ago, Barack Obama wouldn’t just have supported the Occupy protests.
He would have organized them.
From Stanley Kurtz’s essential Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism, pp. 117-8:
In fact, Obama personally helped plan one of UNO’s most confrontational actions of the eighties [in 1988]: a break-in meant to intimidate a coalition of local business and neighborhood leaders into dropping a landfill expansion deal.
We know of Obama’s involvement in this demonstration only because his supporters in 2008 felt it necessary to rebut charges that, contrary to his claims of inter-racial healing, he had organized exclusively with blacks. Only then did Obama’s former colleagues from UNO [United Neighborhood Organization, a largely Mexican group] of Chicago reveal that he had helped to plan and lead this multi-ethnic demonstration against landfill expansion on Chicago’s South Side.
…Shouting “No deals!” somewhere between eighty and a hundred UNO-DCP [Developing Communities Project, a black group organized by Obama] marched to a local bank. There they broke into a meeting being conducted by the bank president and local community leaders. The group was exploring the possibility of a deal with Waste Management. The protestors, presumably including Obama, surrounded the meeting table while [Mary-Ellen] Montes [of UNO] told the negotiators, “We will fight you every step of the way.”
Obama was also likely involved with other aggressive UNO protests, including protests for school reform, through which he likely met former Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers. Ayers is involved in the Occupy protests today.
In the 1990s, Obama maintained his ties to radical activists, and “channel[ed] foundation funding to his confrontational Alinskyite colleagues.”
It’s clear that Obama’s ties to the Occupy movement–its forbears, its tactics, and some of its current luminaries–run deep.
This is what “community organizing” looks like.
- I recently have become interested in the New Party as well as committed myself to see if we can build a Progressive Chicago network, working with Madeline Talbott of ACORN – the local New Party convener.
- I wanted to introduce you to the NP and Progressive Chicago and would like to talk to you about it to see if there is a role you want to play.

**Van Jones loves Joel Rogers and his ideology**
It is becoming increasingly clear that Barack Obama did not create a movement. A movement created Barack Obama.
One of the key leaders of that movement is a Madison, Wisconsin, law professor and sociologist – Joel Rogers.
While not widely known outside “progressive” circles, few people have exercised more influence in more strands of the movement that selected and elected Barack Obama, than has Joel Rogers.
Obama’s former “Green Jobs” Czar, the Marxist-Leninist Van Jones has been part of Rogers’ network for some years.
Rogers has served with Jones on the board of the Apollo Alliance , a radical led coalition of green groups and labor unions that had considerable input in writing Obama’s massive “stimulus package”. Rogers has served as Senior Policy Adviser to Jones’ Oakland based Green For All – the Northern California affiliate of the Apollo Alliance.
In the video below Van Jones, takes time in his address to the January 2009 Mayors Innovation Project conference to praise his friend Rogers.
Jones points out three “great gifts” that Joel Rogers “has given our movement”.
Firstly, there is “a new economic model …high road development …the best thinking that he represents is now reflected in the White House.”
Secondly , “…the New Party, which is now the Working Families Party…the idea of a ‘new politics’ that you could actually have in this country bringing together labor, civil rights, feminists…and actually make a difference…is the basic framework for what just took over the White House.”
Thirdly, …”his idea of a new energy paradigm. His founding the Apollo Alliance. I believe the stimulus is going to put something like $80 billion in this direction…”
Jones credits Rogers with dreaming up the White House economic model – basically a 21st century “green” version of corporate socialism.
Shocking Obama-Ayers Connection
Of all Obama’s radical associates from the past, few received more attention or were as shocking as his connection to Ayers.
Until now, it has been known Obama launched his political career at a 1995 fundraiser in Ayers’ Chicago apartment and that the two served alongside each other from 1995 to 2000 on a hundred-million-dollar education foundation, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.
Ayers was founder of the CAC; Obama was hired as the group’s first chairman. CAC documents dug up during the 2008 presidential campaign revealed Ayers was in a working group of five who assembled the initial board of the CAC, which hired Obama. The documents also revealed Obama and Ayers had a working relationship at the CAC.
Obama would later cite his CAC position as evidence of his qualification for public office.
However, those probing Obama were left to speculate exactly how Ayers was so familiar with him that he hired the future politician for the CAC and hosted the 1995 fundraiser.
“The Manchurian President” reveals that Obama worked directly with Ayers in 1988 and that the two were brought together by a radical Alinsky acolyte who was trained by Alinsky himself.
The Weathermen founder earlier resurfaced after going underground amid multiple criminal charges related to his extremist activities. The charges were dropped due to prosecutorial misconduct.
In 1988, in response to a Chicago summit that documented the poor quality of education in the city, Chicago United, a group founded by Ayers’ father, the late Thomas Ayers, formed a community advocacy coalition called the Alliance for Better Chicago Schools, or ABC. Thomas Ayers was the chairman and CEO of Commonwealth Edison.
When he created his ABCs Coalition in June 1988, Thomas Ayers included Obama in the coalition, Klein and Elliott found. Obama at the time was director and lead organizer of the Developing Communities Project, or DCP, an institutionally-based community organization on Chicago’s Far South Side. Obama’s first job in Chicago was his DCP position.
The contact for the ABCs Coalition, on which Obama served, was none other than Ayers himself, who at the time was at the University of Illinois at Chicago
Klein and Elliott found documentation, cited in “Manchurian,” that Ayers started attending the ABCs Coalition’s monthly meetings, held over breakfasts of eggs, sausages, rolls, fruit, and coffee in a conference room on the 57th floor of Chicago’s First National Bank downtown headquarters.
Obama Disguised Alinsky Radical?
Obama, meanwhile, took his DCP job in 1985. In “Dreams from My Father,” Obama relates his first job in Chicago as a community organizer and claims the name of his boss at DCP was “Marty Kaufman.”
Kaufman, however, doesn’t exist. The DCP chief at the time was actually Marty Kellman, who was trained by Alinsky himself, “The Manchurian President” documents.
Additionally, Klein and Elliott document the DCP, with Obama as director, received two grants. One grant was for $40,000 in 1985 and another for $33,000 in 1986 from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, a group that promoted Alinsky-style organizations, the book says.
Write Klein and Elliott: “There can be no doubt, then, that Obama and Ayers were well-acquainted by 1988, brought together through an acolyte of Alinsky.
“Perhaps this period serves as the missing link, providing background to understand how Ayers was so comfortable with Obama’s capabilities that he later would hire the future politician to head the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, or CAC, a job Obama would in turn claim had qualified him to run for public office.”
Book Uncovers Radical Nexus
Along with a chapter on Ayers, “The Manchurian President” includes an extensive investigation into Obama’s own background. The work uncovers, among many other things, Obama’s early years, including his previously overlooked early childhood ties to a radical, far-left church connected to Ayers’ ideology.
“The Manchurian President” reveals aspects of Obama’s carefully covered-up college years, with new details of his student career at Occidental College and later at Columbia University.
Obama’s associations with the Nation of Islam, Black Liberation Theology and black political extremists are also revealed, with extensive new information on the subjects.
Also detailed are Obama’s deep ties to ACORN, which are much more extensive than previously documented elsewhere. The book crucially describes how a socialist-led, ACORN-affiliated union helped facilitate Obama’s political career and now exerts major influence in the White House.
“The Manchurian President” contains potentially explosive information not only about President Obama but also concerning other officials in the White House, including top czars and senior advisers Valerie Jarrett and David Axelrod.
With the media constantly giving Obama a pass and basically only doing “fluff” stories, is it any wonder a radical is now the President of the United States?
