Another ’60s Radical – Once Featured On PBS – Finds His Place Teaching Our Children. Is Obama Condoning Indoctrinating our U.S. Children Through the Dept. of Education?

Unfortunately for traditional America – the one that values independence, free market capitalism and limited government – too many aging radicals from the 1960s and ‘70s have found their way into government school classrooms.

Some, like Bill Ayers, found a home in the hallowed halls of higher academia. Today he collects a pension from the very government he vowed to destroy just a few short decades ago. Others, like Robert Roth, set their sights on K-12 education.

As these former Abbie Hoffman wannabes matured a bit, they realized they had to – in the words of modern-day radical Van Jones – drop the radical pose to achieve the radical ends.

So they don’t call for warfare and setting bombs anymore. They don’t call press conferences and vow to kill the pigs or topple American imperialism.

Their new goal is to alter traditional American culture by indoctrinating the young students in their charge. They spending precious class time teaching our children about their vision of America, which would be equal to all other countries; where the efforts of motivated individuals are sacrificed at the temple of forced collectivism; where the laws are driven by moral relativism and truth that comes in shades of gray.

One example of their work is a documentary called, It’s Elementary – Talking About Gay Issues in School,” which was deemed “an indispensible and unparalleled resource for all school personnel” by former National Education Association president Reg Weaver.

The film, which unsurprisingly aired on PBS in the late 1990s, chronicles how activist teachers tackle sex issues with young elementary students. One clip shows lower elementary students debating the merits of gay marriage.

Another clip features an interview with one Robert Roth, who was listed as an eighth-grade social studies teacher.

Curious about Roth, I googled him and – funny – virtually the only picture I could find of him was on a 1970 Wanted poster from the Chicago Police Department. Along with Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn and other radicals, Roth was a member of the Weather Underground and was wanted for his participation in the “Days of Rage” riots in Chicago.

‘Capitalism Will Fail,’ Marijuana Leaf Part of California School Mosaic

Symbols of communism and marijuana and a prediction that “capitalism will fail” aren’t exactly the sort of end-of-year messages you’d expect from an eighth grader.

But that’s precisely what some students at the Black Pine Circle School, a private school in Berkeley, Calif., chose to include in their “Class of 2007″ mosaic.

The symbols, which are prominently displayed outside the school, have prompted questions about the appropriateness of images like a hammer and sickle and a marijuana leaf on school grounds — and have led critics to say they are blatant proof of political indoctrination of young children.

Black Pine Circle bills itself as a day school where students from kindergarten through eighth grade will be “maximally free of all the ‘isms’ which pervade most aspects of the world around them: from racism to sexism to the less obvious forms of discrimination,” according to its Web site.

Capitalism, even if it fails, apparently isn’t one of those: Tuition for a 10-month term costs more than $17,000.

Laura Wolff, assistant director and head of BPCS’s Lower School, told that each graduating student makes a tile to commemorate his or her time there, sometimes teaming up with other students to make a “dual tile.” She said school officials do not edit or otherwise influence the end products.

Indoctrination of Children In Chicago

Beneath a Revolucion flag with the image of Che Guevara, a DJ played music for the kids in the big gymnasium. A hand made poster on the wall behind him said Stop Raid Now Legalization. Despite the bad spelling, the pro-illegal immigrant message was clear.

This was part of a shockingly blatant day of communist indoctrination at a Chicago Public Schools (CPS) facility. Hundreds of Chicago students of all ages were invited into a day-long display of revolutionary communist propaganda at the Social Justice Student Expo in one of Chicagos community colleges on the north side on Thursday, May 20. Presented by Chicago Youth Initiating Change (CYIC), it had the full blessing of CPS.

Army of new Teachers to fight for Social Justice

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan calls for army of new teachers to fight for social justice in the class room.

On Cotober 9, 2009, Arne Duncan gave a speech at the The Rotunda at the University of Virginia.

“Put plain and simple, this country needs an army of great, new teachers…

I believe that education is the civil rights issue of our generation. And if you care about promoting opportunity and reducing inequality, the classroom is the place to start. Great teaching is about so much more than education; it is a daily fight for social justice.”

Social Justice is the Progressives code word for ‘redistribution of wealth’. This is what the Department of Education wants the army of new teachers to fight for in the schools that your children go to. They will surreptitiously indoctrinate children into the mindset of mediocrity and that the ‘rich’ will take care of them by paying extra taxes. The days of teaching a work ethic are over.

Is This What Taxpayer Dollars for Education Buys? Painful to Watch.

Has FEDERAL “political correctness” taken over the parenting of our children?

Compare Dress Code and Code of Conduct in schools in the late 60′s and early 70′s.

Then along came President Jimmy Carter in his “wise wisdom” to create the Federal Department of Education.

As President, Carter created two new cabinet-level departments: the Department of Energy and the Department of Education. Source Wikipedia.

Spanking was abusive.  Parental strictness an abhorrence.

What has our government created?

The link below is a LONG post, however it IS in the BEST INTEREST of American Parents to read and educate yourselves:

Once the Government OWNS Your Children; What’s Left? The Obama “Plan” for America?

The masks are coming off the Progressives. They don’t even try to hide their Marxist agendas any more. Pelosi wants to be reinstated as Speaker of the House (she must dearly miss the power that position has) and as her primary campaign topic, she is going all out for national child care.

If indeed Pelosi achieves her goal and the government does for child care what it did for healthcare, it might look something like this:

  • A childcare mandate requiring all parents to buy childcare for their children and enter the workplace.

  • A national electronic database of all parents and their parenting habits, ostensibly to determine and enforce the use of “best practices” for raising children.

  • Forcing all private-sector child care professionals out of business, creating a single-caregiver government monopoly subjecting impressionable young children to government indoctrination in everything from climate change to illegal immigration and abortion.

1984 comes knocking on our doors and our children are the price of government oversight. Makes you all warm and fuzzy doesn’t it? More likely, it chills you to the bone and there is fear in the pit of your stomach for your family and children. You have to ask yourself, “Once they own your kids, what’s left?”

Indoctrination Fridays: Teacher’s Lesson Compares Gov. Scott Walker to White Segregationist

July 1, 2011

A paper published by several college professors, entitled “Organizing the Curriculum for Labor Consciousness,” calls for more weaving of Big Labor history and tactics into every day K-12 school curriculum.

The professors cite leftist American “historian” Howard Zinn, who wrote:

“If teacher unions want to be strong and well-supported, it’s essential that they not only be teacher-unionists but teachers of unionism.  We need to create a generation of students who support teachers and the movement of teachers for their rights.” (emphasis added)

Kate Lyman, an elementary teacher in the Madison, Wisconsin school district, is clearly answering the call.

The Zinn Education Project is a collaboration between Rethinking Schools and Teaching for Change. We appreciate your involvement to bring a people’s history to the classroom.

Teaching for Change provides teachers and parents with the tools to transform schools into centers of justice where students learn to read, write and change the world.

Teaching for Change

Teaching for Change provides teachers and parents with the tools to transform schools into centers of justice where students learn to read, write and change the world.

Teaching for Change operates from the belief that schools can provide students the skills, knowledge and inspiration to be citizens and architects of a better world — or they can fortify the status quo. By drawing direct connections to ‘real world’ issues, Teaching for Change encourages teachers and students to question and re-think the world inside and outside their classrooms, build a more equitable, multicultural society, and become active global citizens.

Is it TIME to disband/defund the Department of Education intiated by President Jimmy Carter and send education back to the state and local education boards?
