Democrats Introduce Bill to Seal Obama’s Presidential Records. Why? Keep an Eye on Congress: H.J.RES.17 (Bill to Amend Pres.Term Limits 112th Congress) **Updated 1/6/13 113th Congress. Bill Reintroduced!

From Nice Deb:

It Begins…Democrats Introduce Bill to Seal Obama’s Presidential Records

October 6, 2012

Bryan Preston At PJ Tatler reports:

According to Judicial Watch, Rep. Edolphous Towns (D-NY) has introduced the Presidential Records Act Amendments of 2011. That bill would do with Obama’s presidential records what Obama has already done to his personal and collegiate records: Seal them up.

In an obvious effort to protect President Barack Obama, a group of congressional Democrats has introduced legislation to create an official process that will allow the commander-in-chief to keep presidential records secret after he leaves office.

Rep. Edolphous Towns

Ironically, Obama revoked a similar George W. Bush order in one of his first official acts as president. In 2001 Bush penned an executive order severely limiting public access to his presidential records. Shortly after swearing in, Obama killed it as part of his much-ballyhooed commitment to government transparency. At the time, the new president claimed that he was giving the American people greater access to “historic documents.”

The bill is called the Presidential Records Act Amendments of 2011.

Judicial Watch reports:

The veteran Brooklyn congressman (Edolphus Towns) who recently introduced the law in the U.S. House has yet to explain why it’s necessary. What’s certain is that Obama has failed miserably to keep his promise of running the most transparent administration in history.

Dems must not be all that terribly confident about his prospects in the 2012 election if they’re already trying to help him cover his tracks.

Obama has circumvented Congress and given himself more power over the Legislative Branch of our Government.

The 2012 Elections (IF Obama doesn’t usurp/eradicate them) this November will NOT be Democrat vs. Republican.  It WILL BE Marxism/Communism and tyranny vs. Liberty and Freedoms.

These, as they are often used, are but three different names

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy,  always followed by a dictatorship.”

  1. The link from Nice Debs Article at top to Judicial Watch does not work. Has anyone found a better way to link to Judicial Watch for this article to Seal the Presidents Records?

Thank you for the heads-up about the broken link. Has since been fixed.

    Here is the direct link:

  2. Reblogged this on Bag Lady Boutique.

  3. Great information. No one, not even Fox News has been reporting on this. Why? I have been saying for a longtime that Obama would try to pass legislation to eliminate Presidential term limits, but did not know it was already in the works.

He must be worried he might be worried not win the election so he is moving to seal his records in a preemptive measure to protect historical failures, lies and God know what. This man wants to be nebulous in every aspect of his life.

Will repost on this on FB. Thanks!

  5. Thanks for this post. Scary stuff. Obama has destroyed our republic.

  6. Convoluted and Confused? I agree that the libs would love nothing more, but the bill, HJ Res 17, that is mentioned in the title of this blog, was dead in the water the day it was introduced on Jan 7, 2011. And the Presidential Records Act Amendments of 2011, HR 3071, is a horse of a totally different color and has nothing in common with HJ Res 17. And it died long ago too. No offense but whoever wrote this blog is more than ill-informed, they are completely confused.

    Just me:

BOTH bills are still active. Just because they are in committee does not mean they were rescinded (dead). The website you added may have put an “odds” of passing on the bill, but it still remains active in the House.

The ONLY reason they have not had “further action” is because the Republicans control the HOUSE.

Note: BOTH bills were introduced by Democrats. Funny how they can think of this with Obama in White House. Thirty plus Bills passed by the HOUSE twice for JOB creation are still sitting on Harry Reid’s desk and Reid claims there WILL NOT be any movement on them until after Nov. 6th.

    No confusion here.

  7. There is a reason why there is a term limit on the presidency. That reason is best demonstrated by what happened with Congress. Support limited terms for the president and implement term limits for the Congress.

  8. What can possbile be in the President’s records to prevent the US Citizenry he was elected to represent from viewing its contents? Why is this President given such latitude where his predecessors were not? Based on performance or lack there of, it is hard to believe he was reelected, but now there seems to be a move to establish a monarchy is very troublesome.
