Socialist Public Employees Call for Revolution in Wisconsin

These folks are from International Socialist Organization, revolutionary Trotskyites committed to global anti-capitalist struggle. What’s fascinating is how the lady speaks about how “all of our members” are up every morning organizing for the dictatorship of the proletariat. That’s amazing, since I thought we only had imaginary communists in America:

So with that, here’s a roundup of reports that you won’t be seeing in the Democrat-Media-Industrial-Complex.

First, check Ed Morrissey, “WSJ: Unions about power, not democracy.” There’s good commentary and a link to “Athens in Mad Town, at the Wall Street Journal:

For Americans who don’t think the welfare state riots of France or Greece can happen here, we recommend a look at the union and Democratic Party spectacle now unfolding in Wisconsin …

The battle of Mad Town is a seminal showdown over whether government union power can be tamed, and overall government reined in. The alternative is higher taxes until the middle class is picked clean and the U.S. economy is no longer competitive. Voters said in November that they want reform, and Mr. Walker is trying to deliver. We hope Republicans hold firm, and that the people of Wisconsin understand that this battle is ultimately about their right to self-government.

There’s also a wonderful background report from Stephen Hayes, at Weekly Standard, “Scott Walker vs. Public Sector Unions.” The proposed reforms are moderate and Wisconsin public employee benefit contributions would be smaller than the national average. But get this:

… beyond the thousands of protesters in Madison, several hundred protesters even showed up at Walker’s personal home in Wauwatosa to register their displeasure with his leadership (and, perhaps, intimidate his family).

It’s thuggery. Michelle has more, “Apocalypse Now: Wisconsin vs. Big Labor; Plus: More out-of-state union recruiting & another teacher speaks up for Walker; police order for AWOL Dems.” The entire essay’s a gem, and that’s not even mentioning the fabulous updates. More on those later. Plus, John Hawkins reports that Speaker John Boehner’s house is also being targeted by progressive terrorists: “Call The Civility Police: Liberal Threats and Violence Surge.”

Now let’s go to Ann Althouse, I went down to the demonstration this morning… just now...” She’ll be uploading, so check back over there. And check the succinctly awesome William Jacobson’s essay, “Gadsden Flag Bad, Egypt Flag Good.”

Obama Acted Stupidly In Picking Sides Against The Taxpayers

By William A. Jacobson

The drama unfolding in Wisconsin has the potential to be a defining moment in the 2012 presidential campaign because Obama openly has picked sides against the taxpayers in favor of public sector unions:

President Obama thrust himself and his political operation this week into Wisconsin’s broiling budget battle, mobilizing opposition Thursday to a Republican bill that would curb public-worker benefits and planning similar protests in other state capitals.

Obama accused Scott Walker, the state’s new Republican governor, of unleashing an “assault” on unions in pushing emergency legislation that would change future collective-bargaining agreements that affect most public employees, including teachers.

The president’s political machine worked in close coordination Thursday with state and national union officials to get thousands of protesters to gather in Madison and to plan similar demonstrations in other state capitals.

Obama has cast his lot with unions which seek to perpetuate a system of benefits which is destroying state budgets.  The Governor of Wisconsin only wants to move these benefits more in line with the private sector and other states:

Mr. Walker’s very modest proposal would take away the ability of most government employees to collectively bargain for benefits. They could still bargain for higher wages, but future wage increases would be capped at the federal Consumer Price Index, unless otherwise specified by a voter referendum. The bill would also require union members to contribute 5.8% of salary toward their pensions and chip in 12.6% of the cost of their health insurance premiums.

If those numbers don’t sound outrageous, you probably work in the private economy. The comparable nationwide employee health-care contribution is 20% for private industry, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average employee contribution from take-home pay for retirement was 7.5% in 2009, according to the Employee Benefits Research Institute.

Debt Deniers wage a rebellion in Wisconsin. Bring it.

Wisconsin unions rebel at the notion, that they, like every other American must contribute to their own retirement. They cry because, like every other American, they may have to pay a percentage of their own health care.

Who is out of touch again?

It’s a rhetorical question, but let me answer it for you: President Barack Obama. He has voiced his solidarity with the unions and Organizing for America, his organization, called Wisconsinites to arms (metaphorically). Does it seem unseemly to you that the President is choosing the unions over the out-of work taxpayers? Another rhetorical question.

Clearly, these unions jerks don’t understand this: Gallup: Unemployment at 10%

While union workers have increased across America, increasing the tax burden on the private sector, private sector employees are out of work.

While union workers bitch about benefits cuts, people without jobs don’t have benefits or a job.

While union workers march because they might have to contribute to their health care costs, small business owners face having their Health Savings Accounts taken away by Obamacare.

Where unions once held a place of respect and honor in America, their collective star falls fast. And President Obama, union stooge and Debt Denier, falls with them.

How long can these people operate in a parallel universe where they suffer no consequences from this horrendous economy? Worse than sucking tax dollars out of the system is their sense of entitlement to tax dollars they take.

Forced union membership. Forced dues. Forced political activity. Forced tax payer pillage. The unions have become a force for all that is bad about the American economy.

The union thugs and their Supreme Leader Barack Obama have decided to Bring It. The Wisconsin Senators run and hide rather than be participants in a sensible way to save the Wisconsin state budget.

Fine. Bring it. Reveal to America who you really are: selfish, greedy, parasitic, overpaid, overindulged, out-of-touch, entitled workers who put your own interests over the interests of your fellow citizens, over children, over common sense.

Debt Deniers will lose.

AFP Launches StandwithWalker.com

Hundreds of AFP Activists Traveling to WI
State Capitol Saturday to Rally Support
-AFP President Tim Phillips to Speak from Wisconsin State Capitol-

Americans for Prosperity today launched www.StandwithWalker.com where citizen activists from across the country can show support for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s common sense reform to end union collective bargaining and tackle the state’s nearly $4 billion deficit.

In addition to signing a petition of support for Governor Walker, Americans for Prosperity activists will travel in buses from across the region to participate in a coalition rally being held at the state capitol in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, February 19 starting at noon.

Participating groups include American Majority, Americans for Prosperity, and several local Wisconsin tea party groups. AFP President Tim Phillips will be a featured speaker.

Additionally, AFP plans to run radio ads across the state urging senators to support Governor Walker’s plan.

“The bottom line is that collective bargaining is being used to force extravagant pension and health benefits that are crippling state budgets like Wisconsin’s,” said AFP President Tim Phillips.

“If we’re going to get spending in control, then all states should be adopting this type of sensible budget reform. Citizens across the country should be alarmed that these common sense reforms are causing union bosses to disrupt a state government.
