ALLEN WEST TO OBAMA, REID, PELOSI: ‘GET THE HELL OUT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’
January 29, 2012
By Madeleine Morgenstern
Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) had a strong message Saturday for President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz: “Get the hell out.”
West made the comments during a speech at a Palm Beach County GOP event in West Palm Beach.
“This is a battlefield that we must stand upon. And we need to let President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and my dear friend, chairman of the Democrat National Committee, we need to let them know that Florida ain’t on the table,” West said.
The audience was booing by the time West got to Pelosi’s name.
“Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else,” he continued. “You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America.”
As the audience cheered and many rose to their feet, West added, “Yeah I said ‘hell.’”
“This is not about 1 percent or 99 percent. This is about 100 percent. It’s about 100 percent America. And I will not stand back and watch anyone defame, degrade or destroy that which my father fought for, my older brother, my father-in-law, myself, my nephew and all my friend still in uniform,” he said.
“I will not allow President Obama to take the United States of America and destroy it. If that means I’m the No. 1 target for the Democrat Party, all I got to say is one thing: Bring it on, baby.”

ALLEN WEST CRACKS UNCLE TOM, OREO JOKES AT ‘FUNNIEST CELEBRITY IN WASHINGTON’ CONTEST
December 1, 2011
By Tiffany Gabbay
On Wednesday night, only one lawmaker — Congressman Allen West — walked away with a prize from the annual “Funniest Celebrity in Washington” contest. Beating out rivals Senator Scott Brown and Democratic Congressman Earl Blumenaue, the Florida Republican won third runner up by sharing some clever jokes on how hearing about a colleague’s “Uncle Tom” made him feel warm and welcome as the only African American conservative in the Congressional Black Caucus.
Delivering a zinger to Georgia Democrat and fellow Black Caucus member John Lewis, West blazed:
“The first thing I got sworn into was the Congressional Black Caucus. Now you talk about being fun–being the only black Republican in the Congressional Black Caucus, but I did kind of get a warm welcome. John Lewis…John Lewis from Atlanta, Georgia–same neighborhood that I grew up in down there…great time. And so I’m walking up behind John Lewis and he really let me feel like this is a family man, because I kept hearing him talk about some guy named Uncle Tom.”
But Congressman Lewis and his old “Uncle Tom” were not the only ones in the line of fire. Rep. Maxine Waters also served as the brunt of West’s jokes — this time about Oreos:
“There was Maxine Waters and I thought, “Man, Maxine Waters must really have a sweet tooth because she kept talking about Oreos. and Double Stuffs at that.”
“So I figured this was gonna be nice. I’ve got a family oriented guy here with John Lewis. I got someone who likes Oreo Cookies with Maxine Waters, but I’ll tell you what, it’s been a good experience being there with the Congressional Black Caucus.”
The Blaze’s Eddie Scarry has more on the night’s festivities on the Blog, including some witty jokes from Scott Brown. Take a peek!

GOP Pep Talk from House Majority Whip about Debt Limit
========================
============
From The Blaze:
By Jonathon M. Seidl
July 27, 2011
There are probably many movie clips that come to mind when someone asks you to pick one that could motivate others. There’s the classic from “Braveheart.“ Or the Al Pacino monologue from ”Any Given Sunday.“ Even a few from the ”Lord of the Rings” trilogy are good. But one movie that probably doesn’t come to mind is the Boston-based crime drama “The Town” — the recent heist movie staring Ben Affleck.
Apparently, though, that’s the movie GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy (the House Majority Whip from California) chose to use in order to motivate his colleagues over the debt battle. But more than motivate, McCarthy reportedly wanted to encourage unity among the GOP members of Congress. Behind closed doors, then, the Washington Post reports he decided to send a message with the dramatic clip:
House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the party’s vote counter, began his talk by showing a clip from the movie, “The Town”, trying to forge a sense of unity among the independent-minded caucus.
One character asks his friend: “I need your help. I can’t tell you what it is. You can never ask me about it later.”
“Whose car are we gonna take,” the character says.
After showing the clip, Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), one of the most outspoken critics of leadership among the 87 freshmen, stood up to speak, according to GOP aides.
“I’m ready to drive the car,” West replied, surprising many Republicans by giving his full -throated support for the plan.
***Emphasis added***
The relevant clip is below. It contains a line the Post left out, where Ben Affleck’s character says, “and we’re gonna hurt some people.” That’s because the conversation comes just before the two characters brutally rough up some thugs:
But the movie apparently failed to do its job. Late last night House Speaker John Boehner went back to the drawing board to write up a new plan after it was apparent he didn’t have enough votes.
Maybe “Braveheart” would have been better:

My Fellow Patriots,
As you and your loved ones prepare to celebrate the 234th birthday of these United States, don’t forget to take a moment to remember all the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms and liberties. I had the tremendous honor to serve this nation – the greatest that has ever existed – in the United States Army for over two decades. On this, our Independence Day, I salute my fellow brothers and sisters in arms who serve in harm’s way. May God protect each and every one of them so they may return home to their families victorious and safe.
On behalf of my beautiful wife Angela and our two amazing daughters Aubrey and Austen, I wish each of you a very Happy Fourth of July.
